Eurovision 2022 – Rehearsals: Day 8

It’s the 6th day of rehearsals. The Big 5 countries will have their second rehearsal session today.
The press room is open, which means the rehearsals are available for journalists who have the chance to watch the full version of them.

The schedule is as follows:

Note: This post will be updated according to the progress of the rehearsals.
It seems like the kinetic sun has movement limitations. In other words, the motor mechanism should be fixed.
At the moment, it has been decided that the kinetic sun won’t be used in each one of the first rehearsals. The technical team is still working on fixing it.
The limitations are namely on the led screen side of the sun, not the ones with the light.

Take a look at the green room:

#1. 🇫🇷 France: Alvan & Ahez – Fulenn

Alvan & Ahez brought a professional performance.
The lighting is namely green and blue.
At the beginning, there’s an artwork of green gems and pebbles on the LED floor.
They have smoke flares and tiny bonfires (or buckets of fire) on the stage.
The area around the kinetic sun looks like a neon green atmosphere.
The area under the sun looks like it is on fire.
They also brought the female dancer from the national selection.
There’s an artwork on neon green spiral on the LED floor.
They kept the style of traditional outfits in the colors of gold and black.
They have a black platform on stage.
We can see green and turquoise lights in the kinetic sun.
Towards the end, we can see a focus on Alvan‘s face that gives us a wink to the camera.
They also use pyro, while the waterfall is lightened in green and fire colors.

#2. 🇮🇹 Italy: Mahmood & BLANCO – Brividi

There is a grand piano on stage and pianists that accompany them.
The performance includes some smoke as well.
Mahmood wore a long black leather coat and an elegant black suit.
Blanco wears a simple white outfit.
in his solo part, Blanco sits on the piano.
There’s a rich use of lights.
Sometimes, the lights create a kind of blue-purple galaxy.
The floor is filled with white smoke at a creating point.
In other cases, we can see a lot tiny white beaming lights, which sometimes create too much flash.
Another advantage of the performance was that we could barely see the kinetic sun.
They had some vocal issues: Mahmood wasn’t it the right key in some moments, Blanco missed his queue and started his rap part on top Manhood’s lines.

#3. 🇬🇧 United Kingdom: Sam Ryder – Space Man

Sam has a different outfit: it is 2 pieces black outfit with some silver parts and silver decorations. It has some shapes on it like starts. I would describe it as cosmic embroidery.
He has 2 guitarists with him on stage.
The UK has brought the record of the biggest prop this year.
They have a metal structure made up of three enormous wings. These wings are shown in different light like white and gold.
Sam stands on a circular black platform. At the beginning this platform is shown under light.
The inner side of the wings is lightened in the rainbow colors.
Behind him there’s a lot of smoke.
The wings are lightened in a soft blue and white colors. Thereafter, we can see them in gold and red.
The outer side of the stage is lightened in dark blue
After the bridge of the song, the winds are opened. The stage is full with yellow color.
Towards the end, he has changed the song: it is more rock vibe, while he is playing an electric guitar with a raspy voice.
Vocally, he was one of the best among all rehearsals.
They has a technical problem with open the wings, so some stage crew helped them out.

#4. 🇪🇸 Spain: Chanel – SloMo

She has 3 male dancers and 2 female dancers. All of them wear black.
Her male dancers show their chest with the outfits they wear. Their shoulders are decorated with silver. Her hips area is exposed.
Chanel has thigh boots. Her outfit is black in its basis with shiny silver and red decorations.
They have a horizontal LED screen that shows flashing light on the stage. Most of the time it is red or purple.
At the beginning, we can hear a traditional Spanish trumpet.
Chanel is singing while leaning her body on the 3 male dancers.
She has some pre-recorded backing vocals.
At certain point, her jacket is removed by the dancers. Then she also hold a red hand fan.
The most memorable thing will be the dance movements.
The effect of slow motion lighting (as in the national selection) can be see here as well.
At a certain point, the background is yellow (made by LED) and in other moments dark purple.
Towards the end, they have added a rain of firework that looks like a back screen.

#5. 🇩🇪 Germany: Malik Harris – Rockstars

The stage is quite dark, while the lighting is blue.
The atmosphere is intimate
Germany will rely on a simple staging concept.
Malik will be on stage with his guitar, piano and drums.
At the beginning, he is near the piano. and later near the drums.
Thereafter, Malik walks on the stage, touching the different instruments.
Malik will namely interact with the audience with a lot of camera angles.
In one take he had a dark gray T-shirt and black pants.
The staging is dark with some smoke and blue circles of light that look like tiny dots or stars.
The rap part is quite emotional and intense.
