Festival da Canção 2023: Cláudia Pascoal Among The First Semi-Final Qualifiers

Portugal kicks-off tonight its national selection to find the country’s next Eurovision representative.

The 57th edition of Festival da Canção will include 20 songs. Tânia Ribas de Oliveira and José Carlos Malato hosted the first night, where 10 acts performed their entries live on stage with this running order:

  2. BOLHA – Sonhos de Liberdade
  3. April Ivy – Modo Voo
  4. Churky – Encruzilhada
  5. Cláudia Pascoal – Nasci Maria
  6. SAL – Viver 
  7. Mimicat – Ai Coração
  8. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown – Contraste Mudo
  9. Neon Soho – Endless World
  10. Esse Povo – Sapatos de Cimento

Six acts will move on for the grand final of Festival da Canção 2023 that will be decided through a Two round voting

The 5 acts moving on for the grand final are:

** Due to an error with Esse Povo‘s telephone line, RTP decided to give them a free path to the final. Therefore, 13 artists (and not 12) will compete in the final.

Round 2

The public alone now decides for the sixth and last ticket to the final and it is Neon Soho.

Festival da Canção 2023 Calendar

Festival da Canção 2023” grand final will take place on Saturday 11th of March 2023 and will be hosted by Filomena Cautela and Vasco Palmeirim. This will also be the date when the Portuguese artist and song for Liverpool will be known to all.

Portugal will compete in the first half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2023.
Last year in Turin, the festival winner MARO was very successful at Eurovision as well.
Her emotional ballad “Saudade, saudade” honored Portugal with another Top10 in the contest when she collected 207 points and ranked 9th on the final scoreboard.
