Norway: NRK Opened Submissions for “Melodi Grand Prix 2024”

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has just confirmed the country’s participation in Eurovision 2024.
As always (besides 1997), Norway will choose a song and an artist for Eurovision via “Melodi Grand Prix”

The new rules will probably increase the chances of established artists submitting songs to the contest.
Some want to release songs in the period of Autumn 2023.
This new rule might raise a conversation about the potential success of songs, based on their popularity after the release date.
Nevertheless, the participants will still be announced in January.

Melodi Grand Prix

In recent years, the format of “Melodi Grand Prix” has changed from time to time.
In 2018-2019, the national selection included one show only.
Since 2020, 3-5 semi finals were added to the fromat.
In 2023, the international jury members were back after several years of absence.

Norway joins a list of countries that have already confirmed their participation at Eurovision 2024.
Among the we can find: Sweden (the host country), Germany, Spain, Israel, The Netherlands, Finland, France, Luxembourg and more

Alessandra Mele represented Norway at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Queen of Kings”.
She ended up in 5th place with a total of 268 points:
