The EBU has just officially confirmed the date for the Eurovision 2024 semi-final allocation draw: The event will be held on Tuesday, the 30th of January 2024
The exact timing is yet to be determined. However, the event will be available to watch via a live stream on YouTube
The ceremony will also include the Host City Insignia Exchange.
Liverpool will give Malmö the symbol of the host city.
The Mayor of the 2023 Host City, Steve Rotheram, will hand over the official keys to the Eurovision Song Contest, known as the “Insignia“, to the Mayor of Malmö, Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh
Since 2008, when Eurovision started to include 2 semi-finals,
EBU builds country pots for the purpose of reducing political and neighborly voting between countries.
The 31 countries that participate in the semi-finals will be allocated into 5-6 pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by the contest’s official televoting partner Digame.
Each pot will include 5-7 countries. From each pot, half of the countries will be allocated in the first semi-final and the remaining countries will be allocated in the second semi-final.
In addition, the 31 semi-finalists will be allocated to one of the halves of the corresponding show.
Each country among the 6 automatic qualifiers: France, Spain, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Sweden – will be drawn in one of the semi-finals where they will broadcast and be able to vote in.
