Around The Continent 2024: Episode 7

We will continue our exciting Eurovision journey with a series of posts, “Around The Continent,” where we will share a recap of the Eurovision season news.
Let’s travel through country by country, to collect all the exciting stories and updates.

General

The EBU and SVT have released the theme art (and therefore the basis for the graphic package) for Eurovision 2024

The design is based on the northern lights in a gradient view.

In addition, the semi-final allocation draw will be held on Tuesday, the 30th of January 2024.

“Festivali i Këngës 62” will be held between this Tuesday (19th of December) and Friday (22nd of December).
Due to the withdrawal of Sardi Strugaj, Eden Baja will take his place.
Based on the festival rules this year, it seems that a max of 2 people will be allowed on the stage (besides bands).

In the first 2 nights, half of the participants will perform.

The songs will be released during January 2024.

Aiko was announced as the winner of “ESCZ 2024”.

Therefore, she will represent Czechia at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Pedestal”:

The “UMK 2024” hosts will be: The comedian Pilvi Hämäläinen, The pop singer (and former “UMK 2023” participants) Benjamin Peltonen and the TV host Viivi Pumpanen.

The 5th episode of “The Rising Star” for Eurovision 2024 was broadcast.

Askin band has submitted the song “Sorry I Won’t Let You Go” for “Supernova 2024”:

The 8 artists who will take part in the “Luxembourg Song Contest” have been announced:

The national selection will be held on January 27th.

Maria Ciolac was the first artist to submit an entry for “Etapa Națională 2024”

In addition, the determined artist Sasha Bognibov submitted the entry “Married to Twins”. The song was written by Danish Jacob Jonia

The professional committee has completed its work: Joost Klein will represent The Netherlands at Eurovision 2024.

His Eurovision 2024 song is co-written by Dutch rapper Donnie and will be performed in the Dutch language.

Raylee, who competed in the “Melodi Grand Prix” in 2020 and 2021, revealed she will relase a new song “Charade” on January 5th.

One of the song’s co-writers is Emmelie De Forest, who won Eurovision 2013.
The release date is the same day that “Melodi Grand Prix 2024” songs will be revealed. Therefore, it seems very likely that Raylee – “Charade” will be one of the “Melodi Grand Prix 2024” songs.

Poland has already started preparations for Eurovision 2024. It seems like TVP holds auditions or opts for an internal selection. Details wil be revealed soon.


The artists who will compete in “Pesma za Evroviziju 2024″ will be revealed soon.

Unofficial sources in local media suggest the following names:


RTV SLO has presented Raiven as its choice for Eurovision 2024!
Around 100 soungs were submitted for the selection process.
The jury panel reduced the list to 5 songs only and based on 2 jury panels (both international) the singer has been selected.

 Her song “Veronika” will be performed in the Slovenian language and will be released on the 20th of January 2024.

9 artists will compete for 1 wildcard to “Vidbir 2024”. The Ukrainian public will have a say in selecting the act. The wild card winner will be revealed by December 29th.
