Iceland and Serbia will select their Eurovision 2024 artist and song, while 2 countries will step forward with their national selections for Eurovision 2024: Sweden and Portugal.

The running order for tonight’s show:

Format
“Melodifestivalen 2024” will last for 6 weeks: 5 heat and a grand final.
6 artists will compete in each heat: 2 will qualify for the final, additional 2 will get an opportunity to compete for a second chance, and the remaining 2 will be eliminated.
Voting will be managed in 2 rounds, where only the public will vote:
- The votes will be aggregated to 8 groups of voters: Televote, and 7 age groups (3-9, 10-15, 16-29, 30-44, 45-59, 60-74, 75+)
- The winner of the first round will get a ticket to the final.
- The remaining 5 acts will face another vote, where the votes of each group will be aggregated to a set of points: 12,10,8,5,3
At the end of this heat, the “second chance round” will take place. 10 artists will compete for 2 spots in the final.
The “Second Chance” line-up will be:

The trio Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir, Sigurður Þorri Gunnarsson and Unnsteinn will host the show.
The results will be determined in 2 rounds:
- Round 1 – The results will be based on a 50% jury vote (combination of national and international jury) and a 50% public vote. Based on a proportional system, the top 2 acts will make it to the super-final.
- Round 2 – On top of the cumulated points, the public will be able to vote again for one of the 2 acts. The artists achieving the highest sum amount of points, will win the selection.
