Switzerland: 4 Cities Bidding to Host Eurovision 2025

Following Winning Eurovision 2024, Switzerland is in the middle of preparations for Eurovision 2025.
The process of selecting a host city involves an official bidding, which is monitored by the national broadcaster of the host country with the EBU.

Swiss broadcaster SRF SSG aims to select the host city by August 2024.
A city would have to meet numerous conditions to be able to recognize the ESC: including sufficiently large halls, sufficient accommodation, public transportation availability etc

• It is the largest city in Switzerland, located in north-central Switzerland, and the capital of the canton of Zürich.
• The Hallenstadion Arena located in the city has a capacity of 11,200 spectators.
• Another option is the Swiss Life Arena, with a capacity of 12,000 spectators.
• The city also suggests an international airport, as well as developed public transportation network.

Geneva

• Geneva is the second-most populous city in Switzerland, located in southwest of the country. It is the capital of the Republic and Canton of Geneva.
• The suggested arena will probably be Palexpo, with a capacity of 15,000 spectators.
• The city has an international airport, and it is quite close to the French border (Not far from the city Lyon).
• This is also the home city of the EBU headquarters.

Basel

• Basel is the third-most-populous city is Switzerland, located in northwestern Switzerland.
• One of the suggested venues is St. Jakob-Park, a football stadium with a capacity of 40,000 seats. However, this stadium will have to be fitted to an arena, adding a roof.
• Another option is St. Jakobshalle (in Münchenstein, near Basel) and suggests a capacity of 12,400 seats.

Bern (Together with Biel/Bienne)

• The city is located in the center of Eastern Switzerland.
• It is expected to see Bern joining forced with Biel/Bienne (Nemo’s hometown)
• The New Olma Hall, which was inaugurated at the beginning of March, offers space for up to 12,000 people.
• Another possible arena is Bern Festhalle, with an estimated capacity of 9,000 seats.
• According to the Swiss media, another scenario is building a new arena.

Nemo represented Switzerland at Eurovision 2024 with the song “The Code”.
They finished in first place with 591 points
