“Melodifestivalen 2025” – Known Details
SVT has made some changes to the format of the selection:
- The professional committee will shortlist 30 songs to compete in the live shows. Some of them will be chosen from the applications, while others from artists who have received invitations from SVT.
- The selection will last for 6 weeks between February and March 2025.
- The selection will feature 5 semi-final and a grand final.
- 6 artists will take part in each semi-final. The top 2 will qualify for the final.
- Unlike previous editions, the songs will be released one day before each semi-final (and not only snippets!)
- The artists who will finish in the 4th, 5th and 6th place (in each semi-final) will be eliminated.
- At the end of the 5th semi-final,
- The highest scoring 3rd-place song (out of possible 5) will get a ticket to the final
- The remaining 4 artists will face additional voting rounds. The winner will qualify for the final.
- The results of the semi-finals will be determined by a public vote
- 12 artists will make it to the final, where the results will be based on a 50% public vote and 50% international jury vote.
