Sweden: SVT Announces The “Melodifestivalen 2025” Hosts

As always, Sweden will hold “Melodifestivalen” as the national final, to select both the artist and the song for Eurovision.

Swedish broadcaster SVT revealed the identity of the “Melodifestivalen” hosts.
Leading the show this year will be Keyyo and Edvin Törnblom. For both of them it will be the first time hostsing the show.

Keyyo (real name: Kristina Petrushina) is a Swedish-Russian comedian. She made a breakthrough already in her teens with her sketches on YouTube. After that, she has continued to make humor, podcasts and TV shows.
She has previously hosted programs such as “Kristallen” and “Talang” and the comedy show “Keyyo & Co”

Edvin Törnblom began his career as an intern at Filip and Fredrik’s Breaking news.
He has worked in SVT for years. Since 2020, he runs the humor podcast “Ursäkta”. In 2022, he releaed his first book “Bögen är lös”.

“Melodifestivalen 2025” – Known Details

  1. The professional committee will shortlist 30 songs to compete in the live shows. Some of them will be chosen from the applications, while others from artists who have received invitations from SVT.
  2. The selection will feature 5 semi-final and a grand final:
    1. Semi-Final 1: Saturday 1st of February 2025, Luleå (Coop Norrbotten Arena)
    2. Semi-Final 2: Saturday 8th of February 2025, Gothenburg (Scandinavium)
    3. Semi-Final 3: Saturday 15th of February 2025, Västerås (Västerås Arena)
    4. Semi-Final 4: Saturday 22nd of February 2025, Malmö (Malmö Arena)
    5. Semi-Final 5: Saturday 1st of March 2025, Jönköping (Husqvarna Garden)
    6. Final: Saturday 8th of March 2025, Stockholm (Strawberry Arena)
  3. 6 artists will take part in each semi-final. The top 2 will qualify for the final.
  4. Unlike previous editions, the songs will be released one day before each semi-final (and not just snippets!)
  5. The artists who will finish in the 4th, 5th and 6th place (in each semi-final) will be eliminated.
  6. At the end of the 5th semi-final,
    • The highest scoring 3rd-place song (out of possible 5) will get a ticket to the final
    • The remaining 4 artists will face additional voting rounds. The winner will qualify for the final.
  7. The results of the semi-finals will be determined by a public vote
  8. 12 artists will make it to the final, where the results will be based on a 50% public vote and 50% international jury vote.

Marcus & Martinus represented Sweden at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Unforgettable”.
They finished in 9th place with 174 points.

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
