Louane – “Maman

Louane (real name: Anne Edwige Maria Peichert) is a 28-year-old French singer-songwriter and actress. She was born in France to parents with Polish, German, Brazilian, and Portuguese roots.
She lost her parents during her teenage years.
Louane became known in 2013 when she took part in the second season of “The Voice France”, where she reached the semi-finals.
In 2014, she played in the film “La Famille Bélier“, which led her to win 2 awards: César Award for Most Promising Actress and Lumières Award for Best Female Revelation.
She released her debut album “Chambre 12” in 2015.
So far, the singer has released 5 studio albums, the last of which was “Solo” in 2024.

In 2025, she was internally selected to represent France at Eurovision 2025.
She will perform “Maman” in Eurovision 2025:

Initial Personal Ranking

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song presents the relationship between a mother and a daughter from two different points of view: From daughter to mother, and from mother to daughter.
The song starts with the statement, “No more lovers, no sleepless nights,” which indicates that she has grown up and changed. She is aware of what’s important in life, and she isn’t looking for adventures. The narrator approaches her dead mother. She feels emptiness since she left and is asking uselessly “How are you?”. The narrator has grown up and changed, but is still determined to preserve the things she has learned from her mother
Years have passed since her mother went, and the narrator has learned to move on. But now, she is dealing with being a mother. She has to be there for someone else – her daughter.
Growing up from the daughter she was to a mother made her focus on what’s important in life and be braver.

Betting Odds

The song was revealed as France’s entry for Eurovision 2025 on March 15th.
For the first 3 days, France has been in 4th place. Ever since then, it has been stable in 3rd place.

Early Prediction

I think France might be a contender to win, even if it isn’t expected to do so.
The meaningful meaning and the universal motherhood might appeal to both the jury and the public. The fact that a promising stage director is in charge of the staging might help.
I can see France doing considerably good in both jury votes and the public votes.
Prediction: 1-6 in the final.

Lucio Corsi – Volevo essere un duro

Lucio Corsi is a 31-year-old Italian singer-songwriter. He started writing his own songs at a young age.
In 2014, he released his debut EP.
So far, he has released 2 EPs and 4 studio albums, the latter of which was released in March 2025.
His genre can be described as glam rock with influences of soft British indie-rock.
His main music influences are Peter Gabriel, Flavio Giurato, and Ivan Graziani.

In 2025, he competed in the “Festival di Sanremo 2025” and ended in 2nd place.
When the festival winner, Olly, refused to go to Eurovision, Lucio accepted the invitation to represent Italy in Eurovision 2025.
He will perform the song “Volevo Essere Un Duro”:

Initial Personal Ranking

27th overall

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song describes life from the point of view of a non-tough guy.
The narrator used to believe that playing the role of a tough guy would make things simpler. However, very quickly, he understands that changing will not make his life easier.
The narrator has some self-doubts – “But I’m a nobody/ I wasn’t born with the face of a tough guy”.
As the song progresses, he revealed more of his fears: The dark, losing a fight, and etc.
He tells us that he try to satisfy people by hiding or being someone that he is not – “And they paint my eyes black/ But I’ve never wasted time”.
The narrator recalls advice from their mother, which adds a layer of nostalgia and longing for a time when life seemed easier. It stands in contrast to the tougher message from the verses – “Living life is child’s play/ My mom would say to me”.
The imagery “the sunflowers with sunglasses told me”  illustrates the theme of perception versus reality, suggesting that one must be cautious about how they view the world and themselves.
The song ends with the realization that the narrator is what he is and can’t hide or change – “I wanted to be a tough guy/ But I’m a nobody/ I’m no one but Lucio”.

Betting Odds

Italy officially selected Lucio for Eurovision 2025 on February 22nd.
Since February 22nd, Italy has been ranked between 12th and 16th, and 13.5 on average.

Early Prediction

It might be surprising for some readers, but I think Italy won’t do that well.
I think the song is too personal and intimate, so it might be hard to relate. It might grab some jury votes, but I doubt the audience will support it.
Prediction: 16-23 in the final

Abor & Tynna – Baller

Abor & Tynna is an Austrian music duo consisting of the siblings Attila Bornemisza (Abor, 27 years old) and Tünde Bornemisza (Tynna, 25 years old). They are based in Germany and were born in Austria, to a family with Hungarian roots.
Their father Csaba Bornemisza (born 1966) has been a cellist with the Vienna Philharmonic, the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera since 1993.
The family includes 3 children, all of them with a background in classical music. Tynna plays the flute, Abor plays the cello, and their younger sister plays the violin.
In 2020, they got an invitation to apply for Austria’s internal selection for Eurovision 2020, but they declined the offer, as they felt they needed more experience.
In January 2025, they released their debut album “Bittersüß”.

In 2025, they won the German selection for Eurovision 2025 – “Chefsache ESC 2025”.
They will perform the song “Baller” at Eurovision 2025:

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song explored themes of heartbreak, resilience, and self-empowerment. The song starts with the metaphor “shoot holes into the night” which represents deep-seated emotions, suggesting a desire to break free from the darkness of heartbreak. The falling stars evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing. The narrator is in a dilemma between going on and moving to the next chapter in life or being stuck on the lingering feelings from the past – “It still hurts a little when I see you again/ But I won’t ever come back, no matter what you tell me”.
The narrator hints why the love story came to an end. The act of changing perfumes and buying a new outfit symbolizes a transformation and a fresh start. It represents the narrator’s desire to reinvent themselves and move forward – “You put a stop after the sentence like you’ve never known me/ So I change perfumes and buy new dresses/ I get this urge again, I want the apocalypse”.
The narrator reclaims power and is looking forward for change of dynamics. She wants to get out of the victim character and wants to be the strong one, instead: “I can see the shards of stars, on my skin like glitter / Would you still catch a bullet for me? / Because your gun is in my hand now”.

Betting Odds

Germany selected Abor&Tynna for Eurovision 2025 on March 1st.
Ever since then, Germany has been ranked in the 19th-24th place by the bookies, mostly around 21st place.

Early Prediction

The song is quite innovative and different in the view of the Eurovision 2025 playlist.
However, I struggle to see it executed successfully on stage. I am afraid live singing might not meet the expectations.
Prediction: Sadly, I can see this in 20th- 26th place in the final.

Melody – Esa Diva

Melody (real name: Melodía Ruiz Gutiérrez) is a 34-year-old Spanish singer-songwriter and dancer.
She was discovered by the music producer El Fary. In 2021, at the age of 10, she released her debut album “De pata negra”. The lead single, “El baile del gorila”, became a summer hit in Spain and topped the local charts. The album was released in Latin America and the USA as well.
The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for this album.
So far, she has released 6 studio albums, the latest of which was in 2014.
In 2009, she competed in the Spanish selection for Eurovision 2009, and finished in 2nd place with the song “Mante de la luna”.

In 2025, she won “Benidorm Fest 2025” with the song “Esa Diva”:

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song discusses themes like self-empowerment and women’s empowerment. It is designed as an autobiographical story, and the narrator tells her own story: “Since I was very little.”
She looked at others’ successes and was inspired by them – “Looking down on the others backstage”. The so-called Diva is a simple person who focuses on her talent and personality, and prevents others from failing – “A diva doesn’t step on anyone to shine”. When she sings, she feels in the right place and nothing else matters – “Her voice makes her great/ What does it matter/ If she’s free, singing/ Like a fish in the sea”.
Life made her brave, strong and experienced. She acknowledges the fact that life involves challenges and successes – “A diva is brave/ Powerful Her life is a garden full of thorns and roses/ She rises again, dancing/. With more strength than a hurricane”.
Later on, the song progresses with more universal message – “She’s the mother who wakes up early/ She’s the artist without a label/ Whether wealthy or unfortunate/ They are divas too”.
She refuses to flag herself in any label, and rather prefers to focus on promoting ways to make the world a better place – “It’s not fame that makes you great/ Equality is my flag And music is my only hope”.

Betting Odds

Spain selected Melody as its Eurovision 2025 artist on February 1st.
In the first week, it moved between 21st and 27th place.
Thereafter, Spain has been ranked between 29th and 36th, 32nd on average for a course of a month and half.
Between March 29th and April 20th, Spain has been ranked 27th and 28th.
Since April 21st, Spain went up to the 22nd-24th place.

Early Prediction

Sometimes, at Eurovision, being represented by too powerful vocals might be a problem. Some people might see it as too pushy.
The “Benidorm Fest 2025” was too exaggerated, and I am not sure this is the right recipe. It might surprise in the final, but the song is a bit too dated.
Prediction: 20-26 in the final

Remember Monday – What The Hell Just Happened

Remember Monday is a pop-country trio, consisting of 3 members: Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele. They rose to prominence in 2019, when they participated in “The Voice UK”.
So far, they have released 2 EPs: Hysterical Women (2023) and Crazy Anyway (2024).

In 2025, they were internally selected to represent the UK at Eurovision 2025.
They will perform the song “What The Hell Just Happened?”.
They are the first girl band to represent the UK since 1999.

Initial Personal Ranking

25th overall

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song captures a wild night’s chaotic and spontaneous essence, reflecting themes of freedom, youthful exuberance, and the thrill of living in the moment.
The song opens with an imagery – “Someone lost a shoe / I’m still in last night’s makeup”.
It represents the aftermath of a night out, evoking a sense of both confusion and amusement. This disarray symbolizes the unpredictability of life and the joy that can be found in embracing chaos.
As the song progresses, we get more details of this unexpected night: “Broke a heel, lost my keys, scraped my knee/ When I fell from the chandelier”.
Each event is followed by “What The Hell Just Happened” – which serves both a rhetorical question and an expression of exhilaration, encapsulating the wild nature of night like this.
It shows us how narrow is the margin between mess and fun.
The chorus promotes energy, reinforcing the idea that life is meant to be lived fully, even if it means facing the occasional mess.
Just before the bridge, the song puts another topic in the center – “Freedom, I wanna shave my head, Freedom, I’ll paint the whole town red, oh/ Freedom, I wanna kiss a stranger”. This is a metaphor for the desire to break free from societal expectations and embrace a more liberated lifestyle.

Betting Odds

The UK revealed its Eurovision 2025 song on March 7th.
Ever since then, the country has been ranked 11th to 15th in the odds, 13th on average.

Early Prediction

The UK’s achievement is an open question. In general terms, I think that their harmonies and vocals in general might impress the jury. The similarities point to many British references can be a great deal. I am not sure whether it will impress the public, though.
On a good day, it might end-up similar to the UK’s scores in 2014 and 2017.
Prediction: 15-20 in the final

 Zoë Më – Voyage

Zoë Anina Kressler (known as Zoë Më) is a 24-year-old Swiss singer-songwriter.
She was born in Basel, moved with her family to Germany, and later moved back to Switzerland.
She started writing songs at the age of 10, which is usually in a pop-poetry style. Her songs are written in French and German, having previously won by artists such as Nemo and Marius Bear.
In 2024, she won the RTS Artiste Radar and SRF 3 Best Talent awards,

In 2025, she was internally selected to represent Switzerland in Eurovision 2025 with the song “Voyage”:

Initial Personal Ranking

Musical Review

Poetry Analysis

The song discusses a relationship where the two sides face challenges that might put it to an end. The narrator is described as a naive person, who might even look indifferent – “My candid eyes discover the world/ in a naive way, that would confuse/ the demons of the night”.
While the second person is described as less-sensitive, one who doesn’t stops himself with saying whatever he feels – “You throw words at me that choke me”.
But the narrator is willing to stay by his side.
The pre-chorus uses flowers as a metaphor to the narrator, and the water are positive things and compliment one may say – “One day you’ll understand/ that flowers are more beautiful/ when you water them/ You’ve cut me so many”.
The narrator understands that there’s still a long way for them to come to compromise or to a better place, and she is willing to find the solution and step into this way, regardless its length – “If you want, I’ll go with you on a journey”.
As the song progresses, the compromise becomes bigger and even sadder. Now it becomes clear that the other side might be sinked in sorrow and melancholy, which might put him in an “unavailable position” for love – “Let me love you, even if you don’t/ I’ll drown in your tears/ I’ll share your melancholy/ Your eyes take me in/ Whatever happens, I’ll never stop/ singing for you”

Betting Odds

The song was revealed as the Swiss entry for Eurovision 2025 on March 10th.
Between March 21st and April 13th, the song was ranked 20th – 23rd by the bookies.
Ever since April 14th, Switzerland has been ranked 15th-17th by the bookies.

Early Prediction

Switzerland made an interesting choice for their host country’s song.
While the song delivers a high-quality ballad, I think it might be divisive.
I think it might score high with the jury, but low with the public vote.
Therefore, it will all depend on the gaps between the public and the jury.
It has a slim chance to be “Bridges” (Estonia Eurovision 2023, 8th place) or “Grito” (Portugal Eurovision 2024, 10th place) of the year.
However, it might have some serious competition among the jury votes (from countries like France).
Prediction: 10th – 16th in the final
