Eurovision 2025 Semi-Final 2 Predictions

Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2025 will occur on Thursday, May 15th at 21:00 CET.
16 countries will compete for 10 spots in the final.
The results will be based on a 100% public vote.

1. 🇦🇺 Australia: Go-Jo – Milkshake Man
2. 🇲🇪 Montenegro: Nina Žižić – Dobrodošli
3. 🇮🇪 Ireland: EMMY – Laika Party
4. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Tautumeitas – Bur man laimi
5. 🇦🇲 Armenia: PARG – Survivor
6. 🇦🇹 Austria: JJ – Wasted Love
7. 🇬🇷 Greece: Klavdia – Asteromáta
8. 🇱🇹 Lithuania: Katarsis – Tavo akys
9. 🇲🇹 Malta: Miriana Conte – Serving
10. 🇬🇪 Georgia: Mariam Shengelia – Freedom
11. 🇩🇰 Denmark: Sissal – Hallucination

#1. 🇦🇺 Australia: Go-Jo – Milkshake Man

• It is a synth-pop song in an entertaining style.
• The staging is colorful, with a dynamic and engaging performance.
• Go-Jo has great charisma, and it seems like he knows how to sell the song
• Vocally, it isn’t one of the strongest efforts, but it seems like it doesn’t matter.
• Prediction: In the middle

#2. 🇲🇪 Montenegro: Nina Žižić – Dobrodošli

• Montenegro will be represented by Nina Žižić, who will perform a James Bond-themed Balkan ballad.
• The vocals are huge, and the raspiness is divine.
• The song takes us on an emotional journey. However, I am not sure the public will go after this.
• The 2nd position might challenge Montenegro, as it is difficult to qualify from. As well as other ballads in the semi-final: Greece, Austria, Israel, and Serbia.
• Prediction: Not Qualifying

#3. 🇮🇪 Ireland: EMMY – Laika Party

• It is a techno-electro dance-pop song with wide influences of 1980s music. The song is a tribute to Laika, the Soviet dog sent on a mission in space.
• Emmy is sweet, and her vocals are as good as in the studio cut.
• On one hand, it has its uniqueness, and there’s so similar song in the semi.
• On the other hand, the performance is quite cyclic on a visual basis – we see the same elements repeatedly.
• It will get some points from Australia, the UK and maybe some of the Nordics. Will it be enough?
• Prediction: Not Likely to Qualify (but has some chances)

#4. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Tautumeitas – Bur man laimi

• It is a folk song, with soft electronic elements.
• The song relies on beautiful harmonies and quite repetitive lyrics.
• It is one of the biggest surprises. The staging is one of the strongest visual experiences of the year. They appear in stunning costumes, with bold and changing lighting. The main prop is a curtain, which helps them interact with others and with the camera.
• Latvia tends to struggle in the semi-finals, but I believe its uniqueness won’t be ignored.
• It might be a “brave” guess, but I believe they will do better than expected
• Prediction: Likely to Qualify

#5. 🇦🇲 Armenia: PARG – Survivor

• It is a pop-rock empowerment song, with some Ethnic elements.
• The performance is quite slick, and for some moments looks like a video clip.
• The fact that he performs shirtless and is a good-looking guy, for sure, will help it.
• The peak of the song is the part performed in Armenian.
• But overall, the song isn’t that strong, and might be overshadowed by others in the semi .
• Prediction: In the middle

#6. 🇦🇹 Austria: JJ – Wasted Love

• It is an opera-pop song, with techno influences.
• The song puts the listener in a deep emotional experie nce.
• The staging concept is quite brave, broadcast solely in black and white.
• The song is currently second in the betting odds, which is a hint to its potential.
• Prediction: Qualifying for the final

#7. 🇬🇷 Greece: Klavdia – Asteromáta

• It is a Balkan ballad performed in the Greek language.
• Klavdia is a talented singer, both vocally and both on the emotional level.
• It isn’t the only ballad in the semi-final (we also have Austria, Montenegro, Israel and Serbia), but it is one of the strongest.
• The staging is based on rich visuals that are implemented via props (rock and bridge) and multifarious LED and video effects.
• Prediction: Likely to Qualify

#8. 🇱🇹 Lithuania: Katarsis – Tavo akys

• Lithuania will be represented by Katarsis, who will perform a rock song.
• On the one hand, the song is a bit heavy and dark. On the other hand, it is one of the only rock songs (together with Armenia) and one of the only bans (together with Latvia).
• However, Lithuania might stand out of all the ballads and pop songs.
• I can’t see a world where Lithuania has its biggest diaspora countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, Germany) and Latvia, and they miss the final.
• Prediction: Likely to Qualify

#9. 🇲🇹 Malta: Miriana Conte – Serving

• It is a modern pop song with some electronic and traditional elements.
• The performance features plenty of elements: Huge red lips prop with a disco ball inside them. Towards the end, we see bouncy Swiss balls on stage.
• Miriana starts with a yellow dress, and later remains in a sparkly red and black catsuit.
• However, it isn’t perfect vocally.
• Moreover, the performance is too messy, as there are too many elements in one performance. It is beyond the limit of campiness.
• On paper, it is one of the bold entries this year, but I am afraid it doesn’t meet the expectations,
• Prediction: Borderline (might be a surprise non qualifier)

#10. 🇬🇪 Georgia: Mariam Shengelia – Freedom

• It is a power ballad with oriental and jazz elements.
• The song has a kind of heavy atmosphere, which I find hard to connect.
• The song is composed of 2 parts, not necessarily related.
• While Mariam is a great vocalist, the song isn’t competitive.
• Prediction: Not Qualifying (A contender to end last in the semi-final)

#11. 🇩🇰 Denmark: Sissal – Hallucination

• It is a dance-pop song with electronic elements.
• The performance is based on neon light, curtain and features dancers who interact with her like ghosts.
• Sissal is a great vocalist, but I am not sure the overall reception of the song is enough to qualify.
• The staging has improved a lot since the national final, and definitely utilizes the stage in Basel.
• Denmark hasn’t qualified for the final in the last 4 years. Will they make it this time?
• Prediction: In the middle

#12. 🇨🇿 Czechia: Adonxs – Kiss Kiss Goodbye

• It is a mid-tempo pop song.
• Adonxs is accompanied by dancers on stage.
• The song is one of the strongest in the studio cut.
• But I found the whole performance package a bit strange: On one hand, it is very classic, the staging is dominated by black and white. On the other hand, his custom isn’t classical and showcases his queer character.
• I think it lacks more of smart lighting or at least any prop.
• The dance break is refreshing, and yet a bit disconnected.
• Initially, I thought it might be a contender for top 10, but I am afraid this vision isn’t by our side.
• Prediction: Borderline (might be a surprise non qualifier)

#13. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Laura Thorn – La Poupée Monte Le Son

• The staging is more than I expected!
• It started with Laura inside a fake doll’s house, while the TV shows France Gall’s performance from Eurovision 1965.
• We can see 3-dimensional objects floating on the floor and a big hand trying to relocate her in the room.
• Vocally, she has improved a lot, delivering each single note.
• The nostalgic atmosphere and the bit of Junior Eurovision vibes might create a wide audience potential.
• Initially, I thought it is more towards the non-qualification fate, but not I think otherwise.
• Prediction: Likely to Qualify

#14. 🇮🇱 Israel: Yuval Raphael – New Day Will Rise

• It is a power ballad with influences of Chanson.
• The song features 3 languages: English, French, and Hebrew. The transition between them is smooth.
• The staging elevates the song with the chandelier balcony prop.
• The song is challenging vocally, I hope she will nail it.
• Prediction: Qualifying for the final

#15. 🇷🇸 Serbia: Princ – Mila

• It is a Balkan ballad.
• The performance is a kind of fusion of drama, modern dance and homo-erotica.
• The dancers carry him and lift him up during the performance,
• It has a late allocation (second to last in the show), but it is not always a sign of qualification.
• Serbia will probably rely on Montenegro to get points from, as well as some diaspora countries like Australia and Austria.
• For the record, their lowest semi-final result was 11th place. This means, their were close to qualifying in cases they didn’t.
• Other ballads like Greece, Austria, Israel, and Montenegro might challenge it.
• Prediction: Borderline

#16. 🇫🇮 Finland: Erika Vikman – Ich Komme

• It is a rave-Schlager pop song.
• It has a bold performance, which mainly relies on Erika’s character.
• The peak point of the performance is when she rides a huge microphone that’s burning with fireworks.
• Closing the semi-final will help it as well.
• Currently, it is in the top 6 of the odds, and this is a big indicator of its success.
• Prediction: Qualifying for the final

I would put the following countries as safe qualifiers:

Safe Qualifiers:

2. 🇦🇹 Austria: JJ – Wasted Love
3. 🇮🇱 Israel: Yuval Raphael – New Day Will Rise
4. 🇬🇷 Greece: Klavdia – Asteromáta
5. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Laura Thorn – La Poupée Monte Le Son
6. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Tautumeitas – Bur man laimi
7. 🇱🇹 Lithuania: Katarsis – Tavo akys

Borderline/ Maybe

1. 🇦🇲 Armenia: PARG – Survivor
2. 🇲🇹 Malta: Miriana Conte – Serving
3. 🇦🇺 Australia: Go-Jo – Milkshake Man
4. 🇨🇿 Czechia: Adonxs – Kiss Kiss Goodbye
5. 🇷🇸 Serbia: Princ – Mila

Likely Not to qualify

1. 🇩🇰 Denmark: Sissal – Hallucination
2. 🇮🇪 Ireland: EMMY – Laika Party

Non Qualifiers

1. 🇲🇪 Montenegro: Nina Žižić – Dobrodošli
2. 🇬🇪 Georgia: Mariam Shengelia – Freedom

As I see it, we will get no more than one from Malta and Czechia.
Armenia’s song isn’t one of the strongest, but people might like the performance.

If I had to narrow down my list to only 10, I would say:

1. 🇫🇮 Finland: Erika Vikman – Ich Komme
2. 🇦🇹 Austria: JJ – Wasted Love
3. 🇮🇱 Israel: Yuval Raphael – New Day Will Rise
4. 🇬🇷 Greece: Klavdia – Asteromáta
5. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Laura Thorn – La Poupée Monte Le Son
6. 🇱🇻 Latvia: Tautumeitas – Bur man laimi
7. 🇱🇹 Lithuania: Katarsis – Tavo akys
8. 🇲🇹 Malta: Miriana Conte – Serving
9. 🇦🇺 Australia: Go-Jo – Milkshake Man
10. 🇦🇲 Armenia: PARG – Survivor

I can easily see a room where Armenia/Czechia qualifies instead of Serbia/Malta.
On a personal note, this is one of the hardest predictions I have ever made, especially going against my initial thoughts (like Czechia)

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th, and 17th of May 2025.
