Germany: A National Selection is Planned For Eurovision 2026

According to ESC Kompakt, Germany opts to select its Eurovision 2026 entry via a national selection.
This year, RTL won’t organize the selection. Instead, German broadcaster SWR will lead the Eurovision project for Germany.
Stefan Raab, who organized the national selection for 2025, won’t be part of the Eurovision 2026 selection.


According to an email from the industry association GEMA, here are the known details:

German Selection For Eurovision 2026 – Known Details

  1. The selection will probably feature one show only, to be broadcast in late February 2026.
  2. The televised show will be broadcast on Das Erste at 20:15 CET.
  3. Artists will be able to submit their entries by October 22nd, 2025.
  4. The submissions will be shortlisted in multiple round:
    • In the first phase, the SWR editorial team will evaluate the songs based on artistic and vocal qualities. Some of the songs will qualify to the second round.
    • In the second phase, the songs will be evaluated by international music and industry experts, as well as European music enthusiasts.
  5. The national final results will be based on public votes and International jury votes

Abor & Tynna represented Germany in Eurovision 2025
They performed “Baller” and finished 15th in the final.

Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
