Maltese broadcaster PBS has announced that Malta will select its Eurovision 2026 entry through “MESC 2026” (The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026).
Earlier today, PBS opened the submission window, and here are the main regulations:
- Performers can submit as many songs as they want, but they will be allowed to compete with only one of them.
- In the case of solo performers, the singer must be Maltese or a resident of Malta. In the case of groups, at least half of the lead vocals must be performed by a Maltese or a resident of Malta.
- At least one of the songwriters must be a Maltese citizen or a resident of Malta.
- Performers must be at least 16 years old by May 2026.
- Songs should not be publicly released before being submitted to the selection. However, songs that have been submitted to other selections will be allowed, as long as they haven’t been officially released.

“MESC 2026” – Known Details
- The submission window will open on November 17, 2025, and will close on November 23, 2025.
- 18 artists will be shortlisted to participate in the national selection.
- The selection process will feature a semi-final and a grand final.
- On December 1st, the list of 18 semi-finalists (and their song titles) will be revealed.
- The semi-final will take place on Thursday, January 15th, 2026.
- The final will take place on Saturday, January 17th, 2026. 12 artists will qualify for the final.
- The results will be based on public votes and jury votes.
- Earlier this summer, a songwriting camp took place, where some artists and writers collaborated on songs.
