Electric Fields – One Milkali (One Blood)

Electric Fields is an Australian electronic music duo consisting of Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross. They combine modern electric-soul music with Aboriginal culture and sing in Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and English.
The duo started performing together in 2015, and released their debut EP in 2016.
Eurovision fans might recognise them from the Australian selection for Eurovision 2019, where they performed the song “2000 and Whatever”.
Back then, they finished in 2nd place, just behind Kate Miller-Heidke.
They will perform the song “One Milkali (One Blood )“:
Allocation in Semi-Final
Australia will perform in the 2nd half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2024.
Australia was allocated to perform in the 13th position, after Azerbaijan and before Portugal
Musical Review
- It is a mid-tempo electro/synth pop song.
- The song starts with the lead singer (Zaachariaha) singing, and then he is joined by keyboards playing. Thereafter, we can hear a sound similar to a ringtone, which is created by electronic keyboards. As the first verse progresses, we get more instrumental elements like synth beats and keyboards playing.
- The first pre-chorus is more acoustic, and it mainly relies on simple keyboards playing. The lead singer’s voice becomes warmer. The melody also includes light drum beats and some backing vocals.
- The first chorus opens with longer notes by the lead singer Zaachariaha. This part has a higher tempo, the basis of the melody is still the keyboard playing, but it is accompanied by the synth elements and drum beat. This part is performed in a higher tone of voice.
- The second verse is performed by the secondary singer Michael, however we can recognize the lead singer humming and singing in the backing vocals. Michael sings in a mid-low tone of voice, with some coolness. This part is based on a more “organized” mid-tempo beat, which sounds like a tribute to the 1980′ music.
- The second pre-chorus is quite similar to the first one, based on keyboards playing.
- The second chorus is based on keyboards playing and unified synth sound. As this part progresses, the electro beat explodes.
- This time, the post-chorus sounds more like a tribal sound. The singing is served with some effects, and the synth effects take over the melody.
- The following chorus is performed with a very long note on its basis. Then it continues to the electro and synth sound.
- For some reason, the instrumental part of this song reminds me of ice cream vans and even the ringtones we had on our phones 15-20 years ago.
- I appreciate the originality of this track, and the fact it emphasized ethnic elements. However, I find its structure a bit confusing. Some of the words in the lyrics feel forced, while others feel chliche.
- The song will require a massive staging effort in order to be elevated. I am not worried about the vocals.

One of them billion, billion, billions
My soul slips from this tide

Poetry Analysis
The song talks about topics like unity and spirituality. The song acknowledges the differences between individuals, but at the same time emphasizes the similarities and mutual contribution we can give to the world.
The first verse starts with existential detachment, describing an imaginary vision of someone who looks at universe from outside, and then coming back to the earth. The spokesperson can see each one of the billion atoms, which tells us he recognizes the huge universe and all the people living there. The number 0.618 is mentioned as a tribute to the golden share in Math, this is a metaphor to the secrets and harmony of the world.
The chorus puts unity and humanity in the center, marking all us as one blood, even though we are different. This is the formula to get an infinite love (“It is raining love”).
The pre-chorus mentions escaping to other universes. The spokesperson mentioned things he likes that make him feel comfortable in this world: Fleetwood Macs (British-American rock band), The Janets (The 10th episode of the 3rd season in the American series “The Good Place“) and etc. Those are mentioned in order to show how people from different places and cultures might unite together, focusing on positive things.
Initial Personal Ranking
12th in semi-final 1, 21st overall
The impact of the allocation in semi-final 1
Among the countries that usually vote for Australia, 6 countries will vote in semi-final 1: Iceland, Poland, Sweden, Finland, UK, and Germany.
Betting Odds
The song was released on March 5th.
During the first 3 days, Australia was in the 18th-20th place in the betting odds.
Thereafter, Australia has been ranked 21st for 3 days.
Continue in the range of 23rd-25th for 4 days.
Since the 17th of March, Australia has been in the range of 26th-29th, mostly around the 27th place.
Early Prediction
Relying on the vocal level, I am sure we will get a fantastic performance.
However, I think staging such a song will be a challenge.
It can be either a simple live performance or either too overloaded.
Semi-final 1 is open to almost any combination of qualifiers.
Something about the structure of the song is a bit weird.
I tend to see this as a borderline qualifier/non-qualifiers.
If Australia qualify, they will end up around 16-22 in the final.

Silia Kapsis – Liar

Vasiliki Silia Kapsis is a 17 years old Australia singer, dancer and actress.
She was born to a Cypriot father (a singer) and a Greek mother (former dancer and a lawyer).
She started performing at the age of 4, and as a child was the lead singer of the Australian Youth Performing Arts Company (AYPAC) in worldwide events.
In 2022, she released her debut single “Who Am I?”. In 2023, she released an additional 3 singles: “No Boys Allowed”, “Disco Dancer” and “Night Out”.
In September 2023, she was announced as the Cypriot representative for Eurovision 2024, as a result of internal selection.
She will perform the song “Liar“:
Allocation in Semi-Final
Cyprus will perform in the first half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2024.
Cyprus was allocated to perform in the 1st position, before Serbia.
Musical Review
- It is a dance pop song.
- The song opens with the sound of thunder. The first verse is based on keyboards playing with some studio effects. Silia sings with a mid-tone voice. The flow is slow, but it gradually builds up.
- The refrain starts more up-tempo with dance beats and pre-recorded processed backing vocals. She sings it more sassy. The melody also features some synth elements.
- The first pre-chorus is short, it is based on guitar and keyboards playing, while Silia sings softly with some soul elements.
- The first chorus is upbeat and brings danceable beats to the front. Singing is considerably fast, and she is accompanied by backing vocals. Towards the end, the word liar is the most dominant one and it is sparsed by synth elements and mid drum beat.
- The second verse starts slowly, as the first verse. However, shortly after we got the beats from previously again. The melody is based on electro dance beats combined with drum beats. She sings this part with more “attitude”.
- The second refrain is catchy and fast. Dance beats take over the melody, Silia sings in a mid-low tone of voice, while towards the end of each line we can hear the backing vocalists.
- The second pre-chorus suggests a more fragile side of her voice.
- The second chorus is similar to the first one, but this time the backing vocals play a bigger role. The melody is dominated by synth elements. The instrumental outro is longer, and sounds richer and more modern on the production aspect.
- Thereafter, we get the bridge which takes us to a keyboard based melody and softer singing. The final chorus follows.
- Overall, it sounds like a polished pop song, but I think we will see its real power as this will come love on stage. There isn’t anything innovative about this one, but it has significant staging potential.
Lyrics
Waking up in the morning and I’m
I’m feeling like ooh-la-la
It’s about to go down cause I found out the truth, la-la
9 o clock in the morning and I know this is our last night
I know what I’m doing cause
Yeah I got it on black and whiteShould’ve known that you are a liar
But I looked the other way
Should’ve known you’re a trouble maker
But you act too nice to hateI knew we couldn’t get much higher
But you promised the world to me
Do you see that you light my fire
Now I know what I knowBecause of you
I’ll make it throughTake a look at yourself
Cause that is what you need to do, to do
Cause the only problem in this room
Is about you, about you
Cause you’re a liarLiar, Liar, Liar
You lieWaking up in the morning and I’m
I’m feeling like ooh-la-la
Now I know that your heart and your mind don’t align, la-la
I can see it in your eyes that you don’t like to be this way
I know that you’re fighting back
Guys like you can’t be changedShould’ve known that you are a liar
But I looked the other way
Should’ve known you’re a trouble maker
But you act too nice to hateI knew we couldn’t get much higher
But you promised the world to me
Do you see that you light my fire
Now I know what I knowBecause of you
I’ll make it throughTake a look at yourself
Cause that is what you need to do, to do
Cause the only problem in this room
Is about you, about you

I’ll make it throughTake a look at yourself
Cause that is what you need to do, to do
Cause the only problem in this room
Is about you, about you

Poetry Analysis
The song discusses topics like dishonesty, betrayal, and deception.
In the first verse, the spokesperson takes us to her experience of waking up in the morning. This is probably the morning after she found out about being betrayed.
She feels like she has been released from a heavy burden.
In the refrain, she criticized herself for not being able to see the truth before, however she blames the cheater as being too nice. This person promised to be there for her, but at the end wasn’t faithful.
In the chorus, she directly blames him and asks him to learn the lesson about his lies. She also wants to shame him.
In the second verse, the spokesperson feels safer as she is aware of his true intentions and feelings. She understands that he won’t change, and recognized his weaknesses of being revealed.
Her power to act and go on is triggered by the will to take a revenge – “because of you/ I’ll make it through”/

Early Prediction

I believe that qualifying is very possible, especially with dynamic and energetic.
My prediction is around 9-15 in the final.

Allocation in Semi-Final
Iceland will perform in the second half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2024.
Iceland has been allocated to perform in the 8th position, after Croatia (7th) and before Germany (as interval act) and Slovenia (9th)
Musical Review
- It is a power pop song, with light schlager influences.
- The song starts with a short dramatic instrumental part and then choir singing, followed by drums playing.
- Hera opens the first verse with a mid tone of voice. The melody is based on a constant fast and short beat.
- The pre-chorus is based on a slower clap beat, combined with the original one. Vocal wise, Hera sings with some trilling, and we can hear the backing vocalists as well.
- The beat explodes towards the chorus. The first chorus is energetic and catchy. The most memorable part is “I feel it coming”. Hera sings in a higher tone of voice. The melody is based keyboards, danceable beat and drum beat.
- The second verse starts almost unplugged and it is mainly based on Hera’s charisma and keyboards playing. The singing is slightly more sassy.
- As the second pre-chorus follows, we once again get the fast beats and rick backing vocals.
- The second chorus is catchy and a bit more soul. Vocally Hera and the backing vocalists sing with high and longer notes.
- The post-chorus is more iconic. It starts with reverbed backing vocals. Hera adds soulful singing with long and high notes. The melody is more towards keyboards playing. It is the moment when Hera can showcase her diva character.
- The song continues with an additional chorus, which is less up-tempo. Hera is supported by the backing vocalists. The keyboards are playing in the center.
- The song ends unplugged with accurate singing, and it feels more emotional.
- Overall, this is a very radio-friendly song, but I feel the singer is better than the song. ” I feel it coming” is the most memorable part of the song. The bridge creates a moment, but I am afraid it will come too late.
Lyrics
I feel it comin’
I feel it comin’Look how far we made it
Standin’ on the edge of the promise
I’m not one to take risks
Gettin’ hurt taught me to be cautiousMaybe we should leave this
‘Cause what would be the use of crashing into you?
We could end up in pieces
Don’t need another heart-shaped bruiseI feel it comin’
Been here before and never got it right
Baby, I’m wonderin’
If fallin’ in love has got me scared of heights
I know we’re goin’ sky-high, goin’ sky-high
But what if we forgеt how to fly?
Baby, I’m wonderin’
If fallin’ in love has got me scarеd of heightsDive in with my heart first
Still drownin’ in this rational fear (Fear)
Wish that I could unlearn
I can’t enjoy the view from up hereMaybe we should leave this
‘Cause what would be the use of crashing into you?
We could end up in pieces
Don’t need another heart-shaped bruise (No, no)(Oh) I feel it comin’ (I feel it comin’)
Been here before and never got it right
Baby, I’m wonderin’ (Baby, I’m wonderin’)
If fallin’ in love has got me scared of heights
I know we’re goin’ sky-high, goin’ sky-high
But what if we forget how to fly?
Baby, I’m wonderin’
If fallin’ in love has got me scared of heightsI feel it comin’
I feel it comin’
[Chorus]
I feel it comin’
Been here before and never got it right
Baby, I’m wonderin’ (Baby, I’m wonderin’)
If fallin’ in love has got me scared of heightsOh, I’m scared of heights, fell a couple times
And I barely made it out alive
Oh, I’m scared of heights, but the truth is
I’m still fallin’ if I kiss you goodbyeSo, baby, I’m wonderin’
If fallin’ in love has got me scared of heights
Poetry Analysis
The song spans the different difficulties one may face during relationships.
The complexity and challenges are presented through the metaphor of heights, and the fear of heights. In the first verse, the spokesperson looks back and appreciates the way she has made so far. She has also learned to avoid taking risks, especially due to the times she got hurt.
In the pre-chorus, she presents a conflict: Should she give a chance to a new love story or she should give up, just to skip another disappointment. The “heart-shaped” scars are a metaphor for carrying the emotional consequences of the past.
The chorus emphasizes the main topic: The fear of falling in love. The metaphor of going sky-high focuses on the excitement of giving a chance to a new relationship, while being scared to lose the one you love.
In the second verse, she wants to follow her heart, but is still afraid of what might happen. She wishes she could somehow forget about the past, which limits her from enjoying the present experiences.
The song is finalized with “but the truth is I’ll still fall if I kiss you goodbye” – this showcases the internal conflict of staying in a relationship, despite the expected results.
Initial Personal Ranking
10th in semi-final 1, 19th overall
The impact of the allocation in semi-final 1
Among the countries that usually vote for Iceland, 5 countries will vote in semi-final 1: Australia, Sweden, Finland, the UK and Portugal
Betting Odds
On the 2nd of March, Hera Björk won the Icelandic national selection.
The song stayed in the top 10 for 2 days.
Later on, Iceland moved in a range of places 14-17 with the bookies for 8 days.
Thereafter, Iceland has benn ranked 18-20 with the bookies for 20 days.
Ever since then, Iceland has been ranked 23-26 at odds.
Early Prediction
Hera Björk is a great performer, but I think the song won’t appeal to the general public, as much as I wish for.
Therefore, I think Iceland is most likely not to qualify for the final.
However, If Iceland qualified, I can see them ending in the bottom 5 in the final.

Allocation in Semi-Final
Finland will perform in the second half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2024.
Finland was allocated to perform in the 10th position, after Slovenia and before Moldova
Musical Review
- It is a dance pop-rap song with wide influences of the 1990’s music.
- The song starts with continuous keyboards playing, while the main singer welcomes us with reciting in a smokey voice. We also get a sneak peak to the chorus.
- The first verse features speaking in a low tone and a smokey voice by Windows95Man. The melody is based on a speedy beat.
- The pre-chorus is performed by Henri Piispanen. He sings in a higher tone of voice. The melody is denser and the beat sounds like many things from the 1990s.
- Drum beats lead us to the chorus. The singing is mainly by Henri, while we can hear Windows95Man saying “No Rules!”. The melody is based on keyboard playing and some whistle effects. The singing in high-tone of voice keeps on going in this part as well.
- The beat that is sped up is the transition and then we get the second verse. Windows95man once again talks (in a bit creepy voice), but luckily this part is short.
- The second pre-chorus comes in and the tempo is higher this time.
- Thereafter, the second chorus appears with an almost similar structure to the first one, but with more improvisations from Windows95man.
- The bridge is based on slower tempo, while the melody is based on keyboards playing and later on electronic elements.
- The melody explodes and we get an additional chorus, this time with a modulation.
- I find this song quite weak. It feels like an attempt to follow a very specific 1990’s music melody. The weaker parts are the verses, which are basically reciting in a non-melodical way.
- At some point, it becomes repetitive, and then we get this unessential modulation.
Lyrics
Welcome. My name is Windows… Windows95man
And I only live by one rule, and the rule is… NO RULES!(No rules…)
Silence, I say
This is my time – my stage
Call me what you may, see if I care
See me slay!Is there something wrong with the way I look?
Is there something wrong with who I am?If I’m not alright
Tell me why do I
Feel so beautiful tonight
NO RULES!It’s how I live
How I find the wind beneath my wings
It’s how I learn to fly
NO RULES!In the heat of the night
In the thrill of the fight
I don’t even care what’s wrong or right
It’s how I live my life
NO RULES!Quiet as I speak
I am the king – I am the queen
And you all gonna be free
Forget the rules and scream! Is there something wrong with the way I look?
Is there something wrong with who I am?If I’m not alright
Tell me why do I
Feel so beautiful tonight
NO RULES!It’s how I live
How I find the wind beneath my wings
It’s how I learn to fly
NO RULES!In the heat of the night
In the thrill of the fight
I don’t even care what’s wrong or right
It’s how I live my life
NO RULES!It’s how I live
How I find the wind beneath my wings
It’s how I learn to fly
(Make some noise, let’s go!)In the heat of the night
In the thrill of the fight
I don’t even care what’s wrong or right
It’s how I live my life
NO RULES!It’s how I live
How I find the wind beneath my wings
It’s how I learn to fly
(Come on!)
NO RULES!In the heat of the night
In the thrill of the fight
I don’t even care what’s wrong or right
It’s how I live my life
NO RULES!
Poetry Analysis
The song concentrates on the ideal of living life by our own principles, and not by social norms and with no need to align to what the majority tell us to do.
In the opening, the spokesperson says that living by no rules leads him. He expresses the will in freedom and self expression. It is also express the need to be released from regulations.
He sees life as a continuous moment, where we need to find our own stage and shine. There will be no more suitable time. While sticking to ourselves, there is no wrong or right.
The spokesperson sees this as the engine that can make him fly: He dares to dream only if he follows his heart, and won’t be busy living life by rules.
The pre-chorus highlights the significance of feeling good about the we we look at and what we’ve done.
Initial Personal Ranking
15th in semi-final 1, 36th overall
The impact of the allocation in semi-final 1
Among the countries that usually vote for Finland ,6 countries will vote in semi-final 1: Sweden, Iceland, Poland, Serbia, Ireland and Lithuania.
Betting Odds
Finland chose their Eurovision 2024 entry on the 10th of February 2024.
On the first 8 days, Finland was ranked 8-10 with the bookies.
The following week, Finland has moved in a range of 11-15.
Thereafter, Finland has been ranked 16-20 for 3 weeks.
Since the 18th of March, Finland was ranked 14th-15th on the betting odds.
Early Prediction
I think Finland will most likely qualify for the final, since this is a televote oriented song.
This, even though the live performance was quite problematic.
However, I think the jury won’t like it that much in the final.
Worth mentioning is that in the final, Finland will have a tougher competition for votes due to presence of The Netherlands, Croatia and maybe additional acts in a similar flavor.
Therefore, my prediction is around 15-20 in the final (with a low score from the jury).

Allocation in Semi-Final
Luxembourg will perform in the second half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2024.
Luxembourg was allocated to perform in the last position (15th) after Portugal.
Musical Review
- It is a mid-tempo contemporary pop ballad, performed in 2 languages (French and English)
- The song starts with guitar stringing. The production suggests an acoustic line. The first verse is performed in French. Tali performs in a mid-tone voice. The melody is based on guitar, but we can also hear additional string elements in non-linear frequencies and some studio effects.
- The pre-chorus features humming and backing vocals, and the melody is based on keyboards playing.
- The chorus is most “festive” and elevating. It is performed in 2 languages. The string beat generates a mini-exploding effect. The interpretation is quite warm. The last part of the chorus is performed higher.
- The second verse is quite similar to the first one. The melody is still based on guitar playing, and a kind of contemporary production. Pre-chorus follows.
- The second chorus brings joy and even a kind of pure innocence. The singing is more powerful, and there’s a use of backing vocals as well. This part suggests diverse vocal techniques and all of them are performed.
- The bridge is laid-back and brings a more unplugged direction. Tali is supported by backing vocals. This part is performed in English. She sings this with a soft and angelic voice.
- The chorus follows. She starts singing it with a higher tone, backing vocalists perform the main part while Tali gives some long notes to the composition. The song ends with minimal production, keyboards playing and softer singing,
- Vocal wise, she reminds me a lot of the French singer Indila.
- Personally, I prefer the French singing parts, but the bilingual composition has been made quite wisely.
- Overall, it is a radio-friendly song that doesn’t fall into the world of generic songs. Tali brings a positive wind to the interpretation and the final product is catchy. Well done
Translated Lyrics
You’re over 20 years old
You don’t have more time
To act like a child
To have funYou have no more money
No rush
You’re really heading
Straight towards defeatAnd I hear far away, far away, far away
This little voice song of a siren
That tells me “Come on
Hurry up, take my hand
Come on, I’ll take you.”Ah, ah… Ah, ah…
That whispers at me
Ah, ah… Ah, ah…Come, I will never let you down
I know you’re a fighter
Hold in your heart the love around
You know you’re a fighterAnd I hear far away, far away, far away
This little voice that repeats to me
“Dude, where are you going?”I admit, I admit I don’t know
I want everything and nothing at the same time
I’m gonna end up totally mad
And behold! You don’t have the right
To stay like that
You must make choices
What do you have in your head?Fight on battles
Believe in yourself
The world is there
Set out to conquer itAnd I hear far away, far away, far away
This little voice song of a siren
That tells me “Come on
Rush to your destiny
You don’t have to brake.”Ah, ah… Ah, ah…
That whispers at me
Ah, ah… Ah, ah…Come, I will never let you down
I know you’re a fighter
Hold in your heart the love around
You know you’re a fighterAnd I hear far away, far away, far away
This little voice that repeats to me
“Dude, where are you going?”I admit, I admit I don’t know
I want everything and nothing at the same time
I’m gonna end up totally mad
And behold!Hear the sound of your dreams
You are so near
They are so near
Look aroundHear the sound of your dreams
Not of your tears
And just open up your heartCome, I will never let you down
I know you’re a fighter
Hold in your heart the love around
You know you’re a fighterAnd I hear far away, far away, far away
This little voice that repeats to me
“Dude, where are you going?”Come, I will never let you down
I know you’re a fighter
Hold in your heart the love around
You know you’re a fighterAnd this voice goes away
It returns inside my head
“Dude, where are you going?”I admit, I admit I don’t know
I want everything and nothing at the same time
I’m gonna end up totally mad
And behold!I admit, I admit I don’t know
I want everything and nothing at the same time
I’m gonna end up totally mad
And behold!And behold!
Poetry Analysis

The easiest thing is to give up and surrender to tears, but she is determined to concertante on her dreams.
