EBU Announces the First Edition of Eurovision Asia

The EBU has just released an exciting announcement: Eurovision Asia will come to life for the first time.
The first edition will take place on Saturday, November 14th, 2026.

Bangkok, Thailand’s capital city, was selected to host the event.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Voxovation, together with S2O
Production and Thailand’s Channel 3 will lead the execution of the first edition.

To mark its 70th anniversary, the world’s premier live music competition is expanding into Asia. Built on the enduring “United by Music” philosophy, Eurovision Song Contest Asia aims to celebrate the region’s vast cultural diversity and creative spirit.

By partnering with top Asian broadcasters, the contest will provide a unique cross-border stage for a population of over 600 million. As the first pan-Asian platform of its kind, it promises to be a landmark entertainment event that translates Eurovision’s decade-long legacy of connection into a vibrant new cultural context.

As of now, 10 countries have already confirmed their participation in Eurovision Asia 2026:

  • Thailand — Channel 3
  • South Korea — ENA (SK Telecom / KT Group)
  • Malaysia — Media Prima (TV3)
  • Philippines — ABS-CBN
  • Vietnam — Vietnam Television (VTV3)
  • Cambodia — TV5 Cambodia
  • Laos — Vientiane Capital Television (VTE9)
  • Bangladesh — NTV
  • Bhutan — Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS)
  • Nepal — Himalaya TV

The line-up will be gradually expanded with more countries in the upcoming weeks.
Each of the participating countries will choose its artists and song via a national selection in the upcoming months.

Utilizing cutting-edge technology, ZOOP moves beyond traditional viewing to offer an interactive fan platform. Martin Green, The Eurovision Song Contest Director, added:

“As we mark the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, it feels especially
meaningful to open this next chapter with Asia, a region rich in culture, creativity and talent.

This is about evolving Eurovision together with Asia, building something that reflects the
voices, identities and ambitions of the region, while staying true to what has always made
the Contest special.
Eurovision Song Contest Asia will be shaped by the artists, broadcasters and audiences who
make it their own, continuing our shared journey of being United by Music.”

Peter Settman, CEO & Co-Founder of Voxovation, said:

“From day one, our ambition has been to build the Eurovision Song Contest Asia together
with the region’s best creative talent, creating a show that truly reflects Asia’s identity and
creative energy.
Together with S2O Productions, we are shaping a show where artists and fans connect
across borders in new ways, through participation, community and deeper engagement
beyond the stage, with ZOOP helping bring that fan experience to life.
I grew up watching Eurovision, singing in front of the TV, dancing to the winners at the disco
and now seeing my own kids just as excited, predicting the outcome. To bring this incredible
show to a new continent is something very special.”

Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
