RVT the Romanian broadcast unveils today the 24 entries will proceed for the semifinals round of their national final “SELECȚIA NAȚIONALĂ“.
“SELECȚIA NAȚIONALĂ” is the same mechanism that chooses the Romanian entry ever since 1993. Last year we had 5 semi-finals before the grand final that chooses The Human for Lisbon This year we’ll have only 2 semi-finals with 12 songs each will take place on:
First semi-final – January 20th 2019 (Arad)
Second semi-final – January 27th 2019 (Iași)
The Final is scheduled for February in the capital city Bucharest. RVT hasn’t announced the particular date yet.
The lucky 24 artists were chosen by a committee of music experts among a total of 126 entries submitted and some of the names revealed are well known to Eurovision Fans.
M I H A I that brought Romania its 4th place at Eurovision 2006 returns for another try. he also took place in the national final of 2018 with “Heaven (7th place), 2017 “I won’t surrender” (2nd place), and 2016 “Paradisio” (5th place). Another Romanian representative returns for a second try. Nicola that brought Romania the 10th place in 2003 singing “Don’t Break My Heart” will compete with her entry “Weight of the world”. Xandra is also familiar to SELECȚIA NAȚIONALĂ. she came 9th in 2018 (“Try”), 5th in 2017 (“Walk on by”) and she didn’t qualify for the final in 2016 with “Superhuman”.
The events will be broadcast live by TVR, under the slogan “Împlinește visul!” (Eng: Fulfill the Dream)
