Czech Republic

Česká televize (ČT) has revealed details about the selection process and revealed the candidates of the national selection.

The songs will be published next Monday, the 20th of January 2020 8:00 CET.
The winner of the national selection will be determined by a combination of international voting (via the official Eurovision Song Contest app) and an international jury that will probably consist of past Eurovision participants from other countries.

The international voting will end on Sunday the 2nd of February 2020 20:00 CET.
The day after, the 3rd of February 2020, Czech Republic will reveal the chosen artist and song for Eurovision 2020!

The competing artist are:

#1. Barbora Mochowa

Barbora Mochowa


Barbora Mochowa 
was born in 1993. At the age of 7, she participated in the television show  “Rozjezdy pro hvězdy”. Afterward, she participated in other television shows. Barbora learned to play the violin, therefore she is still attracted to classical music and influenced by it.
Barbora isn’t a stranger to the Czech selection. Last year, she participated in the national final with the beautiful ballad “True Colors“:

#2. Benny Cristo

Benny Cristo

Benny Cristo is active since 2009. In 2019, he released a successful EP called Kontakt which contains 6 songs. 3 of the songs (“Bomby”, “Asio”, “Padam) became big hits in the Czech Republic and each of them more the 14 million views on YouTube.
In September 2019 he performed for 15.000 people, which he decided to do again in 2020.

#3. Elis Mraz & Cis T

Elis Mraz is a Czech singer and songwriter. Nowadays, she is working on her next album in which as usual she writes all the songs by herself. Elis rose to fame when she participated in NOVA Voice of the Czech Republic and reached the semi-finals. In 2014, she was awarded for ‘Discovery of The Year”  in Czech Nightingale Mattoni.

Cis T (Čistychov) is an urban hip-hop artist from Slovakia. So far, he released 13 studio albums. He is active since 1996 and he is considered to one of the founders of the Hip-Hop sound in Slovakia.

#4. Karelll

Karelll

Karelll is a Czech singer-songwriter and a music producer. He studied songwriting in London. Afterward, he has the possibility of launching his career. Karelll has his own recording studio where he and many other artists record their music. Karelll has a band with whom he is planning to perform live.

#5. Olga Lounová

Olga Lounová

Olga Lounová is a singer and composer who has performed in more than 1500 concerts. She is one of the famous singers in her country, achieving millions of views on YouTube.
She opened for P!nk during one of her concerts in Prague. Olga splits her life between Prague and Los Angele where she is mostly recording her songs in.

#6. Pam Rabbit

Pam Rabbit

Pam Rabbit is a Czech singer and writer with Armenian roots. Pam has a passion for music and dancing from a young age. She creates her own music videos. She earns a living by singing in bands and writing for other artists.
Pam got her nickname “Rabbit“, since her strong connection with animals.
Pam isn’t a stranger to Eurovision. In 2018, she was one of the backing vocalists of Mikolas Josef who represented the Czech Republic in Eurovision 2018.
In 2019, she competed in the national selection with “Easy To Believe

#7. We All Poop

We all Poop is a pop-rock band consisting of 4 people:

Jakub Božek – lead singer
Jakub
 has been doing music since the age of 14. He started singing at the age of 27. Jakub started to take singing lessons not so long ago.

Vojtěch Božek – bass guitar
Vojtěch (Vojta)
 is 25 years old. He has been doing music since the age of 15. He founded a music label named Stone Smoker, who mostly works with psychedelic bands from all over the world.

Šimon Martínek – guitar
Šimon 
has been playing in several bands, where he is the guitar player, but also songwriter and vocalist. He earns his living as a guitar teacher at the International School of Music and Fine Arts in Prague. He is currently studying in the Prague Conservatory himself.

Michal Jiráň – drums, main composer
Michal
‘s first steps in the music world were when he was a teenager and studied playing the piano, guitar, and bass guitar. afterward, he started playing drums. Michal worked as a music editor and sound engineer in the theatre. Nowadays, he works in music production.

 

Estonia

The running order of “Eesti Laul 2020” was published by ERR (The Estonian Broadcaster).
The competition includes 24 songs in a format of 2 semi-finals and final. 12 artists participate in each semi-final. 6 artists will qualify for the final from each semi-final. Therefore, the final will include 12 songs.

The rumors regarding the French representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 confirmed to be true! The French broadcaster “France 2” has confirmed on their social media that singer and actor Tom Leeb will raise the French in Rotterdam.

Thirty-year-old Tom Leeb has already shared how proud he is his country this year:

The French entry will be revealed on a later date during March. In the meantime, you can listen to Tom’s latest single “Are We Too Late” taken from the debut album “Recollection” became a huge hit in the country.

Israel

At the moment, 13 singers are in the race to represent Israel in Eurovision 2020:

The final show of “The Rising Star” (“Hakochav Haba Le’Eurovision”) will be broadcasted live on Tuesday the 4th of February 2020. 4 singers will compete in the final and the results will be decided by a combination of public voting and jury.

The winner of the competition will participate in a special national selection where he/she will perform 4 songs that intended for Eurovision 2020. The national final will be held on the 3rd of March 2020. The results will be determined by 70% jury and 30% public voting.

 

Latvia

Last Thursday, LTV (the Latvian broadcaster) announced the 9 finalists of Supernova 2020:

Although Markus Riva and Madara were between the 9 most-watched videos, they didn’t qualified for the Supernova 2020 final following the jury voting. The final of Supernova 2020 will be held on the 8th of February 2020.

Last Saturday, Raylee won the first semi-final of “Melodi Grand Prix 2020“. She performed the song “Wild” and qualified for the final:

Tonight another 4 artists will face each other for one spot in the final. They will compete in duels until one winner will be announced.

The Macedonian Radio Television has announced that Vasil will raise the North Macedonia flag in Rotterdam with a song that will be released on a later date.

Vasil Garvanliev was one of Tamara Todevska’s backing vocal singers at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Regarding the huge success of the North Macedonian team in Tel-Aviv, it was rumored a few months ago that Vasil is heading to the stage front. The speculations were once again correct and that another singer for Eurovision2020 was guessed before time.

Sharing his excitement from Eurovision, Vasil shared with his followers this post saying “Almost every musical child in Europe grows up with the same dream: To one day represent his/her own homeland in the Olympics of singing – Eurovision. I am so honored, blessed, and thankful to get the chance and sing for mine with an open heart this May in Rotterdam. Here we go!!

Until Vasil entry for Eurovision2020 will be released you can enjoy one of his earlier singles “Patuvam” and have a hint of how his entry might sound like:

TVP (the Polish broadcaster) has revealed the jury of their national selection “Szansa na Sukces 2020“. The three judges are former representatives of Poland in Eurovision:

#1. Michał Szpak who represented Poland in Eurovision 2016 and finished in  8th place in the grand final

Thea Devy, one of Beovizija 2020 (The Serbian selection for Eurovision 2020) participants, was among Top 3 picks of the Austrian broadcaster ORF.

submitted the song “Judgement Day” to the Austrian broadcaster. But in the end, she lost to Vincent Bueno. Thea translated the song into the Serbian language and submitted the song “Sudnji Dan” to Beovizija 2020.
