The Bosnian national broadcaster BHRT has confirmed what we all have already suspected: Bosnia & Herzegovina won’t participate at Eurovision 2022.
Considering the financial debt to the EBU, the country is under sanctions that prevent Eurovision participation.
Czech broadcaster Ceska Televize has confirmed that the Czech entry for Eurovision will be chosen by Eurovision Song CZ 2022 which will be held in December 2021.
Here are the full details regarding the selection:
- The selection will be an online one
- 6-8 artists will participate in the selection
- In the final, we will watch pre-recorded performance of the songs (and not the video clips themselves)
- The pre-recorded performances will be released in the beginning of December 2021.
- The results will be determined by 50% international jury, 25% international public voting, and 25% Czech public voting
- The grand final will be held on December 2021, so Czech Republic will be one of the first countries to reveal their song and artist for Eurovision 2022
In the last month, Greek media has created a lot of hype regarding the question: Who may represent the country at Eurovision 2022?
The broadcaster has opened a submission window for Eurovision 2022. The deadline was the 10th of October 2021. Greek Music Labels were able to submit their proposals. They should name artists with 1-3 songs.
ERT will base its decision not only on the songs, but on other parameters as well.
Once the deadline is over, it’s time to reveal the artists that applied to represent Greece at Eurovision 2022.
It seems that at least 25 different artists have submitted more than 40 songs overall.
The Greek selection will include 2 phases.
The first round of the selection process will start next week. All submitted songs will be judged by plenty of parameters: the vocal ability of the singer, staging potential at Eurovision, staging concept, melody, catchiness, the message of the song, promotion, and more.
The selection process will include meetings with each singer where the concept and proposals will be presented and the jury will be able to ask questions.
Only 3-4 songs will qualify for the second round.
Here are the well known artists among them:
#1. Good Job Nicky
- Label: Cobalt Music
- About the Artist: Good job Nicky is the stage name of Nikolas Varthakouris. He is 25 years old and considered one of the rising stars in his country.
- What can we expect? : it seems like the singer has submitted a ballad with soundtrack elements. It was composed by the young composer Hermes Geragidis. Moreover, the team behind him includes the art director and choreographer Fokas Evangelinos.

- About the Artist: 27-year-old singer and songwriter grew up between Crete and New Jersey – two completely different musical worlds. It’s only fitting that her groundbreaking music combines danceable pop influences with Mediterranean traditional sounds
- What can we expect? The singer probably submitted the maximum allowed number of songs for a singer, according to ERT’s regulations this year. Evangelia submitted 3 different songs. All of them are billengal (which means they include lyrics in English and Greek). All of the songs have characteristics of modern pop and traditional Greek foundations. The songs have already been produced. Each of them already has a video clip, staging concept and clear message.
#3.Joanne (Ioanna Georgakopoulou)
- Label: MINOS EMI
- The singer won the latest edition of “The Voice of Greece“. Her coach was Eurovision 2005 winner Elena Paparizou.
19 years old Joanne conquered the audience’s heart with her voice.
The singer probably submitted 1 dance-pop song with English lyrics.
#4.Amanda Tenfjord (Amanda Georgiadis)
Amanda Georgiadis is a Greek singer who lives in Norway.
The singer submitted an emotional ballad. She didn’t write the song by herself.
The 38 year old singer submitted 3 dance pop songs.
He has shown an interest in Eurovision for years.

Koza Mostra & Agathon Iakovidis represented Greece at Eurovision 2013. They performed the song “Alcohol is Free” and ended up 6th in the grand final.
This time, the singer submitted 3 different songs. All of them are written in English. The songs have a rock vibe and they are midtempo – uptempo.
2 of the songs have been written by him, while the third was written by a Swedish team.
#7. Konstantinos Christoforou

In 2002, he was part of the boy band ONE who ended up 6th in the grand final with the song “Gimme“:

The 26 year old singer namely performs electro-pop songs in English.

The 20 year old singer, supported by MINOS EMI, has decided to submit an entry as well.
It is a dynamic, modern alternative pop song with English lyrics. The song talks about women’s empowerment, and even the “Me Too” movement.
Who is out?
Despite making a great media presence, the American – Greek singer Kalomira hasn’t submitted a song. 2 days ago, we reported that the singer worked with several international musicians on 2-3 songs. We would like to remind you that the singer has represented Greece at Eurovision 2008 with the song “My Secret Combination”:
One of the surprises was seeing her accompanied by the Swedish singer-songwriter Mohombi who participated 3 times in the Swedish selection for Eurovision.
However, it seems that the singer thought she would have an easier way to claim the representation of Greece this year.
Is it possible to see her trying to represent Cyprus?
They are not the only artists who applied for ERT. However, it seems like they are the main contenders to represent Greece at Eurovision 2022.
Will Hungary return to Eurovision this year? we are not sure anymore.
A few weeks ago, Eurovision fans were excited to see a hint of the country’s potential Eurovision return.
However, it seems that things have changed.
Earlier this week, Hungarian broadcaster MTVA officially published the regulations for the annual music festival “A Dal” which was used as the national selection in the past.
In the rules for “A Dal 2022“, Eurovision 2022 isn’t mentioned at all!
The only mutual core is: songs should last no more than 3 minutes and participants should be at least 16 years old.
Therefore, we can conclude that Hungary won’t participate at Eurovision 2022, unless an internal selection takes place (but it is less likely for Hungary).
The submission window for “Söngvakeppnin 2022” closed last Wednesday, the 6th of October 2021.
In January 2022, the 10 participants of “Söngvakeppnin 2022” will be revealed.
“Söngvakeppnin 2022” will have the same format as in the previous Söngvakeppnin 2022” will be aired in February 2022. The selection will include 2 semi-finals and a grand final.
- In each semi-final, 5 artists will compete for 2 spots in the final. The results will be determined by 100% public voting.
- The jury will have the right to give a wild-card to one of the 6 non-qualifiers.
- Therefore, 5 artists will compete in the grand final. In the first round, the results will be determined by 50% jury voting and 50% public voting.
- In the “Super-Final”, the top 2 artists will compete while the results will be determined solely by the public.
According to the Icelandic website k100, we can learn more in detail regarding the national selection this year.
It seems like the Icelandic artists showed a great interest in representing the country at Eurovision 2022!
A total of 160 songs have been submitted to Iceland’s national broadcaster RÚV.
Moreover, the last hour of the deadline brought about 80% of the songs.
The number of songs is considered a record number, and it may be explained by 2 reasons:
- Last year, Iceland chose internally (due to the canelation of Eurovision 2020). Thus, a lot of artists haven’t had the opportunity to take part in a national selection in 2021.
- Iceland ended up 4th at Eurovision 2021, which may encourage artists to try their luck.
3 shows (2 semi-finals and grand final) will take place on the following dates:
- “Söngvakeppnin 2022” Semi-Final 1 – Saturday 19th of February 2022
- Söngvakeppnin 2022” Semi-Final 2 – Saturday 26th of February 2022
- Söngvakeppnin 2022” Grand Final – Saturday 5th of March 2022
The selection committee consists of representatives from RÚV, FÍH (Association of Icelandic Musicians), and FTT (Association of Composers and Lyricists).
The committee will have to reduce the list of 160 submitted songs.
5 – 7 songs in the selection will be chosen out of the 160 submissions.
3 – 5 other songs will come from songwriters who are specially invited to participate by RÚV.
Rúnar Freyr Gíslason, project manager of “Söngvakeppnin 2022” on RÚV said:
“The selection committee has a lot of work to do and has now started work.
These are professionals who listen to all these songs and give them grades and then return them to our executives who are struggling with this. Such an advisory opinion on which songs should be considered.
The committee is mainly wondering about the quality of the song. What we are wondering too, who is doing the TV show; The singing competition, is diversity, gender equality and what is good television”.

The news came public today.
TVM (Maltese broadcaster) opened the submission period today (15th of October 2021).
The submission window will close 2 months from now: the 15th of December 2021.

Montenegro‘s national broadcaster RTCG has confirmed that the country will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
Monttenegro returns to the contest, after 2 years of absence: 2020 and 2021.
The mechanism for selecting the artist and song is still unknown.
In 2 last participation (2018 and 2019), the country used the national selection Montevizija.
While in the years 2009, 2012 – 2018 the songs and artists have been internally selected.
Lidia Kopania, who represented the country at Eurovision 2009, expressed her interest in representing Poland at Eurovision 2022.
In an interview with Telwizji ATV, the singer revealed she has received a proposal for a song.
Currently, she is working on recording the song in the studio. Afterwards, she will submit the song to the Polish selection for Eurovision 2022.
We would like to remind you that the deadline for submitting songs to the Polish selection will close on the 20th of November 2021.
It won’t be the first time the singer is trying her luck, she has also submitted songs for the Polish selection in the years 2018 and 2019.
According to SMRTV, about 40% of the submitted songs came from abroad.
The majority of the songs from abroad, came from Sweden
Serbian media ”Blic” has reported that there will be new national selection instead of Beovizija.
A selection of musical experts and judges will review the applications that will be received.
Broadcaster has plan to hold several semi final evenings and then grand final and it will be broadcasted live on RTS. There will be number of semi final evenings with quality compositions and there will be 2-4 evenings when spectators (public) and expert jury will have opportunity to choose the Serbian entry at Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Names of the jury will be kept as a secret and hosts will be 2 female or male couples. Production team adds as well:
”What is interesting, the contestants will have the opportunity to perform on stage, and to bring the song both vocally and visually. Hosts Dragan Kosjerin, Filip Bulatović will host the viewers near the small screens, while Kristina Radenković and Stefan Popović will greet the viewers from the backstage.”
Olivera Kovačević, a Serbian journalist, says:
‘‘ Everyone is welcome to apply for the RTS competition. We will conduct the election procedure according to the Eurovision standard and regulations, and only unforeseen epidemic measures can force us to make the election in another way. We hope that this will not happen – said Kovacevic, who pointed out that the procedure for choosing the composition that will represent Serbia at the “Eurosong” in 2022 is defined by the Rulebook, while the conditions for participation in the election for national representative are stated in the competition.”
”The competition is just open, the jury and the audience will decide who will be the representative of Serbia and RTS at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rome after the competition in February. Or in case of impossibility to hold the competition, RTS will decide for itself”
There are already some potential names to participate in the selection:
- Zorja Pajic
- Aleksandar Randojevic
- Aca Luka
- Sara Jo
The hosts of the selection are:
Dragana Kosjerina, Filip Bulatović, Kristina Radenković and Stefan Popović.
Spain will select a song and an artist for Eurovision via “Festival Benidorm“.
The submission window will close in the 29th of October 2021.
The festival will include established artists, alongside newcomers.
It seems that we already have a first name as a potential participant:
On the 13th of October, the Spanish singer Pablo López uplodaed a photo from the recording studio alongside the text “El Festival” (Eng: the festival).
The photo was uploaded as an Instagram story, so it isn’t available anymore:
Pablo is a well known singer who has released 3 successful studio albums so far.
Two of them reached gold, and the other one reached double platinum.
Pablo is one of the coaches in the Spanish version of “The Voice“:
