What – The first night of “Sanremo Festival 2022″. It will be the 72th edition of the traditional music festival. The festival, beside being an important and traditional event in Italy, is also used a the Italian selection for Eurovision

Format – 12 artists will perform tonight:

  • Achille Lauro – Domenica
  • Ana Mena – Duecentomila ore
  • Dargen D’Amico – Dove si balla
  • Gianni Morandi – Apri tutte le porte
  • Giusy Ferreri – Miele
  • La Rappresentante di Lista – Ciao ciao
  • Mahmood & Blanco – Brividi
  • Massimo Ranieri – Lettera di là dal mare
  • Michele Bravi – Inverno dei fiori
  • Noemi – Ti amo non lo so dire
  • Rkomi – Insuperabile
  • Yuman – Ora e qui

The results will be based on 3 different components with equal weights: jury from the press and TV, jury from the radio and jury from the web.

However, no eliminations will take place.
The derived ranking will be part of the final results later on.

Amadues will be the main host, and we will see additional different hosts next to him along the festuval.


25 artists are participating in the the festival this year: 22 established Italian artists and 3 new-comers (“Giovani category“).
Tomorrow, the remaining 13 artists will perform in the festival.
The winner will be announced on Saturday’s late night and will receive the right to represent Italy at Eurovision 2022.

As one of the big5 (and a host country as well), Italy has already guaranteed its place in the grand final. Italy will participate at the grand final of Eurovision 2022 that will be held on the 14th of May 2022.
