Ukrainian broadcaster, reached a mutual decision with Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra.
They have decided that the best option to make Ukraine’s performance impactful will be to perform live in Turin.

The Ukrainian government has given the Kalush Orchestra special permission to get out of the country’s borders. We have to recall that due to the war, Men under the age of 60 are not allowed to leave the country.
Kalush Orchestra will be able to work on their performance, as well as participate in some promotional events. But most importantly, they will be able to be present in Turin!
Furthermore, the band plans to raise funds in order to help Ukraine recover when the war ends.

A few days ago, the EBU permitted Ukraine to use the “Vidbir 2022” performance as a back-up live-on tape. The reason for this exception was the impossibility of recording a proper back-up performance during the war.
The band commented:
Until recently, Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision was in question, but now we can definitely announce that Kalush Orchestra is going to Turin and will perform live at Eurovision.
Ukraine will compete in the first half of semi-final 1 which will be held on the 10th of May 2022.
The country was allocated to perform in the 6th position, after Slovenia and before Bulgaria.
If Ukraine qualifies, the country will participate in the grand final on the 14th of May 2022
