Winds of change blow in Belgium towards preparations for Eurovision 2023.
As for Belgium, there are 2 national broadcasters:
- RTBF – French-speaking Community of Belgium

- VRF – Flemish Community of Belgium

The two broadcasters rotate selection for the Eurovision Song Contest each year.
For example, in the years 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022 it was RTBF‘s responsibility to lead Eurovision particiapation. Meanwhile, in the years 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 (and 2021 due to the fact that Eurovision was canceled) it was VRT’s turn.
Therefore, this year VRT will lead the selection process for the country.
Peter Van De Veire, (the Eurovision commentator for VRT) has revealed the country’s plans for Eurovision 2023. The announcement was made in the program “Zomerhit”.
According to Peter, Belgium will hold a televised selection show for Eurovision 2023.

Additional details will be given in the future.
It will be the first time since 2016, Belgium will select a song and an artist via a national selection.
Belgium has had a diverse fortune in the Eurovision Song Contest:
The country ended in top 10 for 3 years in a row (2015 – 2017), didn’t qualify for 2 years in a row (2018-2019) and then ended in the 19th place in the final for 2 years in a row (2021-2022).
Jérémie Makiese represented Belgium with the song “Miss you” at Eurovision 2022.
He finished in the 19th place in the final:
