During the radio program ”Studio P3” Arianrhod Engebø was surprised by Stian “Staysman” Thorbjørnsen and announced that he and Arianhod will host the next Melodi Grand Prix 2023.
Arian expresses her emotions during the announcement:
”I am extremely surprised”
” I feel joy and excitement, and of course, a little fear. We will make TV for an extremely large number of people, and MGP is something many people have a strong relationship with.”
”I have always been very happy with Melodi Grand Prix.”
Who is Arian Engebø ?:
Engebø has become a well-known NRK voice in recent years. Together with Nate Kuhung, she leads the radio program ”Studio P3”.This summer of 2022, they were also presenters for VG Lista top 20.
Who is Staysman ?:
Stayman has participated in Melodi Grand Prix twice, in 2015 with the song ”En godt stekt pizza” and in 2021 as part of the group Landeveiens Helter with the song ”Alt det der”.
Arian adds to her excitement:
”I think it will be good. We have only met once before. Then we had improv rehearsals, and we had a lot of fun then.”
Thea Flinder who is Melodi Grand Prix manager, is very happy that Arian and Staysman are the hosts for MGP 2023.
”The two are different profiles with different backgrounds who have in common that they love music and MGP.
- We have great faith that the two of them together will entertain the audience and the artists with infectious enthusiasm, warmth and charm when MGP starts up on 14 January”
Melodi Grand Prix is expected to follow a similar format to previous years and a contest consisting of several semi-finals and a grand final. All of these results are expected to be decided by public voting alone. Exact details will be released in the following weeks.
Subwoofer represented Norway at Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song ”That Wolf a Banana”.They came 10th in the grand final with 182 points.
