On the 25th of October 2022, TVR‘s Board of Directors approved the budget for Romania‘s participation in Eurovision 2023.
The members of the Board voted unanimously to allocate the necessary resources for the organization of the National Selection, the preparation of Romania’s show for the international contest and the team’s travel to the UK.

In addition to the budget allocation, TVR discussed possible changes in the format of the national selection:

Mihai Predescu, TVR’s Eurovision 2023 project manager. reacted:
“We are a new team and we propose a different Eurovision contest, based on transparency, professionalism and digitization. We changed the voting system: only the public will choose the piece that will represent Romania. And one more thing: this Eurovision will be on air on TVR and much more present than in the past online, on social media networks”.
Therefore, the expected changes are:
- The song and the artist that will represent Romania at Eurovision 2023 will be chosen solely by public vote (in the past the weight of televote was between 12% – 16%).
- The national selection will be more innovative in the sense of digital resources
- TVR will invest time and resources in making the national selection accessible.
- Eurovision will be take a bigger part in TVR’s plans. In particular, it will take a bigger place in the international and national media channels.
In the upcoming days, TVR will finalize all the details for “Selecția Națională 2023“.
Thereafter, the submission window will open, as the regulations will be published
