As we continue our weekly series Around The Continent, we will discuss the news and tell the story of each country’s preparation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.
General
Last Monday, the Head of Delegations official meeting in Liverpool was held.
The delegations discussed plans for Eurovision 2023 performances and timelines.
The allocation draw for the host countries (The UK and Ukraine) took place as well:
Ukraine will perform in the #19 slot in the grand final:
The UK will close the grand final, performing in the 26th slot:

As every year, some of the participating countries will hold Eurovision promotion concerts. The confirmed shows and dates so far are:
- 23rd – 25th of March: 🇪🇸 Barcelona Eurovision Party (Barcelone, Spain)
- 1st of April: 🇵🇱 Polish Eurovision Party (Warsaw, Poland)
- 7th – 8th of April: 🇪🇸 PrePartyES 2023 (Madrid, Spain)
- 15th of April: 🇳🇱 Eurovision in Concert (Amsterdam, The Netherlands)
- 16th of April: London Eurovision Party (London, the UK)
- Israel Calling – Not officially confirmed, but will probably be held this year as well

The official ESCZ page, has revealed the creative team behind Vesna for Liverpool:
- Zizoe Veselá and Bára Juránková will take charge of the customs and creative direction
- Zizoe Veselá will also be the choreographer.
- Bára Juránková is one of Vesna’s members.
- Matyáš Vorda will be the visual director and in charge of the LED visuals.
- Vít Bělohradský will be the stage will be the 2nd year in a row

Based on the interview Reiley gave to Eurovoix, it became clear that the staging for Liverpool will be different compared to the one we have seen in “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023″

Iru has released her Eurovision 2023 entry, “Echo“:

Victor Vernikos has released his Eurovision 2023 entry, “What They Say”

Marco Mengoni confirmed he will perform “Due Vite” at Eurovision 2023. This is the song he competed with at “Festival Di Sanremo 2023″

The original version is too long to be performed at Eurovision (3:46 minutes):
The new version hasn’t been released, however based on the lyrics, we can see that the second half of of the first verse and the second half of the chorus will be removed.

Last Saturday, Mimicat won “Festival da Canção 2023” with the song “Ai Coração”:

Piqued Jacks, who will represent San Marino, announced on possible revamp of their song “Like an Animal“:

Luke Black, who will represent Serbia at Eurovision 2023, will consider some staging changes compared to the performance we’ve seen in “PZE 2023″

Spain will invest around 773,000 euros in Eurovision 2023 participation, this mainly refers to the staging and live performance

In addition, we can probably expect a revamp for Liverpool.
In a special interview, given by Jose Pablo Polo (producer and one of the composers), he revealed that “Eaea” has been modified a little bit, before being officially sent to the EBU:
The version that will sound at Eurovision has already been delivered. We have made some changes (some were already present in the Benidorm Fest version) that we believe will be able to elevate the song to a higher status

Tvorchi face difficulties in receiving permissions to leave Ukraine for participating in different promotional events, out of the country.
The reason for this is that some male Ukrainian artists have received such permissions and have never came back to the country.
The required permissions should be give by the Minister of Culture.
Previously, the duo were special guests in the Lithuanian national selection and have also traveled to Norway
