  1. Round 1: A combination of jury and public vote: The results of each public vote will be scaled to the traditional Eurovision scale of 1-8,10 and 12, and the same applies for the public vote. The 3 artists who will achieve the highest sum of points will advance for the next round.
  2. Round 2: The votes will be reset. The public will vote for its winner.

Format

Melodifestivalen 2024” will last for 6 weeks: 5 heat and a grand final.
6 artists will compete in each heat: 2 will qualify for the final, additional 2 will get an opportunity to compete for a second chance, and the remaining 2 will be eliminated.

Voting will be managed in 2 rounds, where only the public will vote:

  • The votes will be aggregated to 8 groups of voters: Televote, and 7 age groups (3-9, 10-15, 16-29, 30-44, 45-59, 60-74, 75+)
  • The winner of the first round will get a ticket to the final.
  • The remaining 5 acts will face another vote, where the votes of each group will be aggregated to a set of points: 12,10,8,5,3

5 artists will compete for 2 spots in the final, based on 100% public vote.
The songs will be performed in Icelandic language in the semi-final.
The jury will have an opportunity to give one wild-card in the end of the semi-finals.
