SVT has revealed the opening act of the Eurovision 2024 semi-final 1.
3 former Eurovision stars will join forces in an act titled “United By Music” – this will align with this year’s (and the permeanant) slogan.
The 3 Eurovision artists will be:
- Chanel (Spain, Eurovision 2022)
- Eleni Foureira (Cyprus, Eurovision 2018)
- Eric Saade (Sweden, Eurovision 2011)
Even though none of has won Eurovision, they have gone on developing their musical career ever since after the contest.
The 3 singers will be accompanied by 24 backing dancers
Edward af Sillén, one of Eurovision 2024 directors, commented:
We want to kickstart this year’s edition with a big pop number that showcases Sweden’s immense love for this competition and demonstrates how we are all United by Music. Three fantastic live artists from every corner of Eurovision who may not have won gold, but who won the hearts of the audience. This number is set to raise the bar for the entire week, and we hope the audience will love it.
They will join a known list of interval acts:
- Johnny Logan (Ireland, Eurovision 1980+1987 Winner)
- Charlotte Perrelli (Sweden, Eurovision 1999 Winner)
- Sertab (Turkey, Eurovision 2003 Winner)
- Helena Paparizou (Greece, Eurovision 2005 Winner)
- Benjamin Ingrosso (Sweden, Eurovision 2018)
Eurovision 2024 will be held in Malmö, Sweden.
The semi-finals will be held on the 7th and 9th of May 2024, and the grand final will be held on the 11th of May 2024.
