Latvia: “Supernova 2025” Will Be the Selection Process for Eurovision 2025

A few days ago, Latvian broadcaster LTV confirmed the country will compete in Eurovision 2025.
Based on LSM (Latvian Public Media), “Supernova” will be used as a mechanism for Eurovision in 2025 as well.

LTV will arrange the 10th edition of “Supernova” (the first one took place in 2015, with a break in 2021) in 2025.


Here is the estimated timeline and the main details:

  1. The submission window will open on the 20th of August 2024.
  2. Performers must be of Latvian nationality. However, songwriters, producers and composers are allowed to be of any nationality.
  3. A panel of professional jury members (both from Latvia and foreign experts) will evaluate the submitted songs and will shortlist the songs.
  4. Shortlisted artists, songwriters and composers will be revealed in November 2024.
  5. The jury will evaluate the originality, arrangement, message and relevance of the songs to the current market trends. The performers will be evaluated by: Vocal abilities, the potential to compete in the international pop music market, previous achievements in the music industry and opportunities for future success. 
  6. The live show will take place in February 2025. The results will be determined by a 50% jury vote and a 50% public vote

Dons represented Latvia at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Hollow”.
He finished in 16th place with 72 points

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Switzerland.
