Latvia Confirms Eurovision 2025 Participation

Latvian broadcaster LTV confirmed the country will compete in Eurovision 2025.
The confirmation was made through a press release to Eurofestivales.

A month ago, a local initiative in the country suggested the country should withdraw from the contest.
More than 11,000 citizens signed the petition.
The main consideration in this petition was that Latvia should focus on sport competitions, where they have more benefits. Therefore, the petition suggests to relocate the financial resources to sport competitions, instead of Eurovision.

However, Latvian members of parliament discussed this suggestion. Only 32 members voted pro this idea. Therefore, LTV will have public foundations for Eurovision participation.

The selection process for Eurovision 2025 is yet to be revealed.
But, relying on the past, Latvia will probably stick to “Supernova” (as it has been used every year since 2020, besides 2021)

Dons represented Latvia at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Hollow”.
He finished in 16th place with 72 points

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Switzerland.
