Norway: “Melodi Grand Prix 2025” Submission Window Open

Norway confirmed its intention to take part in Eurovision 2025. The confirmation was made through an official press release made by NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster.

As almost always, Norway will select its Eurovision entry and artist via the traditional selection process “Melodi Grand Prix”.

The submission window opened today and will close on the 1st of September 2024.
Submissions will be made online via NRK website.
Each submission should include an MP3 file, as well as a document with the lyrics.
The performer must hold Norwegian nationality or live in Norway.
Applications can be made either as a songwriter or performer or both.

However, based on NRK’s report, we learn that the way to confirmation wasn’t a trivial one.
The Norwegian head of delegation, Stig Karlsen, is known as one of the biggest critical voices against some of the EBU’s decisions.

The recent statement by the EBU made the decision easier for NRK, as the EBU confirmed some changes in the strategy, responsibilities and definition areas of growth.

Stig commented:

Now the EBU has recognized that they had problems this year and they are working to improve it. And what we’ve been told, in addition to what they’ve come out with publicly, sounds very good. So now we will work constructively and positively to get Norway into Eurovision in 2025

GÃ¥te represented Norway at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Ulvahem”.
They finished in 25th place (last place) with 16 points.

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Switzerland.
