Malta: “MESC 2025” Format and Schedule Have Been Revealed

Maltese broadcaster TVM has finally revealed its plans for Eurovision 2025.
As in previous years, Malta opts to select its artist and song for Eurovision via the national selection “MESC” (“The Malta Eurovision Song Contest“)

“MESC 2025” – Full Details

  1. The submission window will open on the 18th of November 2024, and will close on the 29th of November 2024.
  2. The performer must hold Maltese nationality. However, no restrictions are on the composers and writers nationality.
  3. Each performer can submit as much songs as he/she/they wish, but up to one of them will be shortlisted.
  4. “Selection Phase”: The professional jury will listen to the submitted songs and will shortlist 24 of them.
  5. The selection will feature 4 phases:
    • “Selection Phase”
    • 2 Semi-Final
    • Final
  6. 24 artists will participate in the 2 semi-final, 12 in each semi-final. 8 artists will qualify from each semi-final to the final
  7. The results of the semi-finals and the final will be determined by a combination of jury vote and public vote. These shows will be held in front of audience.
  8. The semi-final will be held on the 4th and the 6th of February 2025.
  9. The final will be held on the 8th of February 2025.
  10. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 artists in the final.
  11. Announcements, media posts, social media posts and any marketing content related to the submitted songs, artists and contest can only be made by PBS. Artists can only share the official posts by PBS.

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
