As in previous years, Malta opts to select its artist and song for Eurovision via the national selection “MESC” (“The Malta Eurovision Song Contest“).
Last week, the national broadcaster arranged a special press conference where the 24 artists (alongside their song titles) who will compete in “MESC 2025” have been revealed.
However, one of the contestants was disqualified: Alexandra Alden violated the selection rules, as her song “Magnolia” was released before the selection (in 2023!).
Therefore, PBS has decided that Dario Bezzina ft. Å»eppi l-Muni will take her place with the song “Għażliet”

“MESC 2025” – Full Details

- The submission window closed on the 29th of November 2024.
- The professional jury shortlisted 24 songs to compete in the national selection.
- The selection will feature 4 phases:
- “Selection Phase”
- 2 Semi-Final
- Final
- 24 artists will participate in the 2 semi-finals, 12 in each semi-final. 8 artists will qualify from each semi-final to the final
- The results will be based on a combination of jury votes and public votes. These shows will be held in front of an audience.
- The semi-finals will be held on the 4th and 6th of February 2025.
- The final will be held on the 8th of February 2025.
- Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 artists in the final.

Sarah Bonnici represented Malta at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Loop”.
She finished last in semi-final 2
Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th and 17th of May 2025
