Eurovision 2025: New Format For Semi-Final Qualifiers Announced

Earlier today in Basel, the EBU and Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR held a media briefing, where changes to the semi-final qualifiers sequence have been introduced.

The new format was meant to increase the excitement in the semi-final results section and give more attention to the artists (instead of the hosts).
The new format will apply for this year only (at the moment)

The New Format

  1. The first 9 qualifiers will be announced as follows:
    • Each time, we will see 3 artists on a split screen.
    • One of them will be announced as a qualifier
    • The remaining 2 acts will have to wait until the next time they are on the split screen. That doesn’t mean they won’t qualify.
    • No country will appear more than 3 times on the screen
  2. The 10th qualifier will be announced out of the remaining acts

The pilot will be executed in the rehearsals for the semi-finals

Eurovision 2025 will be held in Basel, Switzerland on the 13th, 15th, and 17th of May 2025.
