Iceland: “Söngvakeppnin 2026” Submissions Will Close on November 20

While more countries confirm their participation in Eurovision 2026, it remains unclear whether Iceland will take part in the upcoming contest.

The national broadcaster RÚV opened the submissions for “Söngvakeppnin 2026″ last summer.
In the meantime, RÚV has already received more submissions than last year.
Previously, the submission window was defined as “open as long as Iceland decides its participation”.
One of the impact factors, according to RÚV, is whether Israel will take part in Eurovision 2026.

And now, it looks like Iceland has taken another mile forward, as the submission window for “Söngvakeppnin 2026″ will close on Thursday, November 20th, 2025.

“Söngvakeppnin 2026” – Known Details

  1. Representatives of FTT, FÍH, and RÚV will participate in the selection committee.
  2. 10 artists will be shortlisted to compete in the national selection.
  3. The selection will feature 2 semi-finals and final,
  4. Based on previous years, the semi-final results will likely be based on public vote. While, a combination of jury votes and public votes will crown the winner in the final.

Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
