Last night, Eva Marija won “The Luxembourg Song Contest 2026” with “Mother Nature”.
Eva was born and raised in Luxembourg to Slovenian parents.

Alenka Gotar, who represented Slovenia in Eurovision 2007 with the song “Cvet z juga”, commented following Eva’s achievement:
It’s a shame that Slovenians have to look for their opportunity abroad, because our state has stolen all the opportunities to show their potential due to the political interests of parts of the elite.
If they were honest in their political stance, they would cancel the performance of Slovenian athletes at the Olympic Games because of Israel.
But there is a lot more money going around and more opportunities to promote these political actors.
Good luck to Eva Maria from the bottom of my heart!

Alenka criticized RTV SLO for boycotting Eurovision 2026 (due to Israel’s participation). By this, she believes the national broadcaster is reducing the opportunity for local talents to shine on the biggest stage in Europe.
The singer sees the people behind the decision as “elite”, whose political interests are questionable.
According to her, RTV SLO still participates in other stages with Israel (like the Olympic Games), where the budget is even higher (compared to Eurovision). This shows that the decision might be biased

The criticism comes not only from a Eurovision entrant. Alena Gotar is a former chair of the Music Committee for RTVSLO. In the past, she was fully involved in persuading RTV SLO to participate in the contest.
Her statement is a pure pain of Eurovision enthusiastic, who sees the importance of being united by music and making the voice of Slovenian artists to be heard.
Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
