About ESSYLA

Hailing from Perwez in Walloon Brabant, ESSYLA first captured the public’s imagination as a finalist on The Voice Belgique (Season 9). Her musical journey began early with her first band, but her ambition led her to the IMEP in Namur, where she honed her vocal technique and distilled her unique artistic identity.

While her roots lie in French chanson, ESSYLA’s sound is a rich tapestry woven from jazz, folk, rock, and funk. Captivated by the “groove” of American legends, she translated these influences into a career-defining debut. Following the radio success of “Let You Go” and “Not My Kind of Dude,” she released her first EP, I’ll Be Okay. At the heart of her songwriting is an authentic exploration of modern womanhood, with a fierce commitment to female empowerment.

About The Song

Co-crafted by ESSYLA, Nicolas d’Avell, and Emil Stengele—with lyrical contributions from Barbara Petitjean—“Dancing on the Ice” is more than just a song; it’s a manifesto for the modern age.

With her sights set on Vienna, ESSYLA uses this track to champion the resilience of her generation. It captures the beauty of youthful optimism: the ability to find a rhythm and “dance on the ice” despite the cracks in our world today. It’s an anthem for those who choose to keep dreaming, turning fragility into a source of strength.

Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
