However, Danish broadcaster DR reports that some decisions haven’t been made yet.
Erik Struve Hansen, the “Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026” director, shared that the national broadcaster will have a meeting with Søren Torpegaard Lund nest week.
In the meeting, they will discuss whether the song “Før Vi Går Hjem” should remain in Danish for Eurovision 2026 or should it be translated into English.
An English version is ready, likely as part of preparations for the national selection.
Erik Struve Hansen, commented:
We will look at what we think works best. But there is no doubt that there is already something here in the Danish version that is very effective. We have seen before in Eurovision that it can give something special to a song that it is sung in the local language. And I think this song has a very special energy in Danish
Søren Torpegaard Lund shared that he prefers the song to remain in Danish. The artist’s repertoire is mostly in Danish. The singer added:
We are working a lot on what is going to happen right now and trying out different things. But as I’ve said before, my dream is to sing it in Danish. Now we will have to see what happens. It means a lot because it is something that comes from me and my heart. I am extremely proud that Denmark wants to send a Danish song to Eurovision
He focuses on the fact the public was willing to see a Eurovision song in local language, as he was crowned the winner with the Danish version:
It means a lot because it’s something that comes from me and my heart. I’m incredibly proud that Denmark wants to send a Danish song to Eurovision
As for the time of writing this article, a poll is running in DR website, the current results suggest that 68% of the voters want to hear “Før Vi Går Hjem” in Danish for Eurovision. An additional 15% of the voters would like to have a bilingual version.

DR statement reflects the importance in joint decision:
we are not going to push anything through. If it ends up in English – and that is a very big “if” – then it will be a joint decision between Søren and us.
Denmark will compete in semi-final 2 of Eurovision 2026 (May 14th, 2026).
The country will perform in the second half of the show.
Eurovision 2026 will be held in Vienna, Austria, on May 12th, 14th, and 16th, 2026.
