Norway: NRK Opens Submissions For “Melodi Grand Prix 2027” and Confirms Eurovision 2027 Participation

Norwegian broadcaster NRK confirms its participation in Eurovision 2027.
The country will stick to its traditional selection: “Melodi Grand Prix”.

“Melodi Grand Prix 2027” – Known Details

  1. Submissions will be made online via the link https://bidra.nrk.no/mgp2027
  2. The submission window is already open and will close August 31st 2026.
  3. The song must be an original composition, pure AI compositions will not be considered.
  4. The song cannot be longer than 3 minutes.
  5. The song must not have been performed or released before September 1, 2026.
  6. The song must have at least one Norwegian songwriter.
  7. The artist must be 18 years old by May 1, 2027.
  8. Each producer/songwriter may submit a maximum of three songs.

The “MGP 2027” Music director, Tarjei Strøm commented:

We are looking for artists and songs with a unique character, a clear identity and impact. A song that stands out from the very first listen, and that both the Norwegian audience and the rest of Europe will just want to hear over and over again.
We want artists who have something to tell, who dare to be themselves and who are ready to throw themselves wholeheartedly into an adventure that can take them from the rehearsal room to the biggest stage in Europe

Mads Tørklep, the “MGP 2027” project manager, promises the audience has big show to look forward to:

MGP continues to develop, and we are working on more exciting news that we are happy to share after the summer. The ambition is to create the strongest and most spectacular edition of Melodi Grand Prix to date

The exact format is not known yet. Based on recent years, we expect the format to feature only one show.
The format of the selection will be revealed in the autumn.

He performed “Ya Ya Ya” and ended 14th in the final

Eurovision 2027 will be held in Bulgaria in May 2027
