The German broadcaster SWR has started the preparations for Eurovision 2027 by opening the submission window for the “Das Deutsche Finale 2027″ – the national selection for Eurovision 2027.
SWR has established a new ESC team that will assess the process and evaluate the submitted songs:
- Pele Loriano – Swiss music expert and producer behind 2 Eurovision winners: “The Code” (Switzerland 2024) and “Wasted Love” (Austria 2025)
- Jules Kalmbacher – a German music producer and songwriter, was part of the German jury in Eurovision 2026
- Lilly Behling – Artist and music record manager
- Florian Müller – International A&R manager
- Celina Spanier – Artist manager
The Selection Process
- Submission will be made online here via this link
- The submission window will close on September 21st, 2026.
- The main criteria are:
- An artist must have stage experience
- The artist should have high-quality vocal capabilities
- It is recommended that the artist will have professional business network
- The artist must be at least 18 years old by January 2027
- A clear connection to Germany is required (German citizenship, very good language skills, center of life in Germany, German parent, etc.). For organizational reasons, residence in Germany or a neighboring country is also a requirement.
- Parallel participation in selection processes of other broadcasters or countries for the Eurovision Song Contest is generally permitted. SWR must be fully informed of any such parallel participation as part of the application.
- The application must always include the artist and the song together. Applications with only the act or only the song are not possible.
- No language restriction.
- Songs written with AI will be prohibited.
