Latvian broadcaster LSM confirms the country will compete in Eurovision.
As every year since 2015 (except 2021), the country will select an artist and a song for Eurovision 2027 via “Supernova 2027″
Supernova 2027 – Known Details

- The submission window will open on August 1st and will close on October 1st, 2026.
- Supernova 2027 will be held on Saturday, February 6th 2027. For the first time, the contest will take place at Xiaomi Arena.
- The artist must be at least 18 years old by April 15th 2027
- No language restriction.
- Songs written with AI will be prohibited.
- Each artist, composer, or songwriter can submit multiple songs
- The performer must be Latvian citizen or non-citizen resident.
- Foreign writers are allowed, as long as their contribution to the song is less than 50%.
- LSM will assign aa professional committee to shortlist the submitted songs, by the following critria:
- Song structure – originality, arrangement, message, compliance with modern market trends
- The Song and the Performer’s capabilities and potential to compete in the international pop music market;
- The performer’s vocal abilities;
- Previous achievements in the industry or the potential to achieve achievements in the future and exist in the real market.
- LSM will reveal the names of the shortlisted artists in November 2026.
- Up to 16 Songs that have received the highest rating in the Jury’s evaluation summary will be shortlisted to participate in the contest. LSM might grant an additional wildcard.
- The final will feature 2 ronuds:
- Round 1: The results will be based on a 50% public vote and a 50% jury vote.
- Round 2: The super-final will feature the top 3 songs from the previous round. The winner will be determined by a 100% public vote
