Sweden: SVT Announces “Melodifestivalen 2027” Dates and Host Cities

Swedish broadcaster SVT revealed more details regarding “Melodifestivalen 2027” – the national selection for Eurovision 2027.

1. Björn Kjellman and Oscar Zia will host “Melodifestivalen 2027″.
2. The selected jury will shortlist the submitted songs.
3. The competition will consist of 6 shows: 5 semi-finals and a grand final.
4. The show will be held on the following dates and in the cities”
   1. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 6th, 2027 (Löfbergs Arena, Karlstad)
   2. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 13th, 2027 (Scandinavium, Göteborg)
   3. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 20th, 2027 (Malmö Arena, Malmö)
   4. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 27th, 2027 (Halmstad Arena, Halmstad)
   5. Semi-Final 5: Saturday, March 6th, 2027 (Himmelstalundshallen, Norrköping)
   6. Final: Saturday, March 13th, 2027 (Strawberry Arena, Stockholm)
5. 4,077 songs were submitted to the “Melodifestivalen 2027″.
6. 30 acts will compete in the semi-final, 12 of them will qualify for the final.
7. There aren’t any restrictions regarding the language of the songs.
8. At least 30% of the chosen acts will be performed in Swedish.
9. At least 50% of the chosen songs must feature female writers/composers.
10. Any Swedish citizen/resident can apply. Foreign performers are welcome, as long as at least one of the songwriters/composers is Swedish.
11. Performers must be at least 18 years old by May 2027.
12. All submitted songs must not have been released before the contest.
13. The song duration must be between 2 and 3 minutes.
14. SVT might invite some performers, writers and composers to submits songs.
15. The 30 selected artists and the team behind each song will be revealed in a press conference in November-December 2026.

It will be the first time that Halmstad and Norrköping host a “Melodifestivalen” show.
As almost alwsys, Stockholm will get to host the final.
