Finland Receives 481 Submissions For “UMK 2027” and Teases Shortlisted Artists

Finnish broadcaster YLE has announced additional details regarding “UMK 2027″. The submission window was open for only a few days and closed on August 23rd, 2026.
A total of 481 songs were submitted for the selection process for Eurovision 2027

“UMK 2027” – Known Details

1. Juries appointed by Yle evaluated the competitors (performer + song) from among all songs submitted to the competition. The juries consist of people of different ages and backgrounds.
2. The “UMK 2027” winner will be selected by a combination of an international jury and public votes. Based on previous years, the ratio is expected to be 75% public and 25% jury vote.
3. “UMK 2027” will be held on February 20th, 2027, in Nokia Arena in Tampere.
4. 7 artists were shortlisted to compete in the “UMK 2027” show.
5. The ticket sale will commence on October 1st, around 20,000 people will be able to watch the show live from the arena.
6. The shortlisted artists will be revealed in a special live broadcast on Wednesday, January 13th, 2027
7. The 7 songs will be released during weekdays (not on weekends) between January 14th and January 22nd, 2027.

2. A duo with a club sound
3. Dramatic and pompous song
4. An artist who appeals to a wide variety of audiences
5. An anthem spiced with distorted guitars
6. An artist who shows off a new side of himself with a dance banger
7. A song where the kantele melody grows to epic proportions

Tapio Hakanen, their of the UMK 2027 selection committee and YLE music editor commented:

The increasing interest from artists towards UMK is directly reflected in the fact that our jury’s task becomes more difficult year after year. The quality of this year’s song candidates showed that Finnish songwriting represents the very top in the world

 
Mikko Silvennoinen, The UMK Executive Producer added:

The previous season produced several radio hits in Finland and an overwhelming Eurovision winner favorite among international betting agencies and industry forecasters

Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen represented Finland in Eurovision 2026.
They performed “Liekinheitin” and ended in 6th place

Eurovision 2027 will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria on May 11th, 13th, 15th, 2027
