Swedish broadcaster SVT will select its Eurovision 2027 entry via “Melodifestivalen 2027“.
4077 entries were submitted to the selection process, which marks a record

“Melodifestivalen 2027” – Rumored Artists

Swedish media, and especially Aftonbladet, reported the first names of potential artists who are rumored to compete in “Melodifestivalen 2027″.
We would like to highlight that the names aren’t officially confirmed by SVT

#1. EMD

EMD is a pop trio, composed of 3 singers: Erik Segerstedt, Mattias Andréasson, and Danny Saucedo. The group was active between 2007 and 2011. They reunited in 2025.
In 2009, they participated in “Melodifestivalen 2009” with the song “Baby Goodbye” and finished in 3rd place

Furthermore, each member competed in “Melodifestivalen” as a solo performer.
Erik Segerstedt competed in 2025 with “Show Me What Love Is”

Danny Saucedo competed in “Melodifestivalen” in 2011, 2012, 2021, and 2024. He reached the final in all his attempts, with 2 podium placements in 2011 and 2012

Mattias Andréasson competed in “Melodifestivalen” in 2016 (as a solo artist) and in 2012 (as part of a duo), as well as a songwriter in several occasions

#2. Per Andersson

The 49-year-old Swedish comedian Per Andersson is about to make his “Melodifestivalen” debut as a contestant.
Per has appeared in “Melodifestivalen” on different occasions:

In 2011, he introduced some of the competing acts.
In 2013, he featured as one of the interval acts, contributing to the comic part of the show.
In 2021, he co-hosted the 4th semi-final of “Melodifestivalen 2021”, alongside Christer Björkman and Pernilla Wahlgren.

Per already has his song ready for the contest. He co-wrote the song with several partners, among them Edward af Sillén, who has been the Swedish Eurovision commentator since 2009 (except in 2013 and 2016). He has also served as scriptwriter and director in the Melodifestivalen in the years 2009–2010, 2012–2013, 2016 and 2025, as well as scriptwriter in Eurovision 2010, 2013, ad 2016.
Edward has already written an entry for “Melodifestivalen”: “Deulu” by Lilla Al-Fadji, who finished in 8th place in “Melodifestivalen 2026″.

Björn Kjellman and Oscar Zia will host “Melodifestivalen 2027″.
The selected jury will shortlist the submitted songs.
The competition will consist of 6 shows: 5 semi-finals and a grand final.
The show will be held on the following dates and in the cities”
1. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 6th, 2027 (Löfbergs Arena, Karlstad)
2. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 13th, 2027 (Scandinavium, Göteborg)
3. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 20th, 2027 (Malmö Arena, Malmö)
4. Semi-Final 1: Saturday, February 27th, 2027 (Halmstad Arena, Halmstad)
5. Semi-Final 5: Saturday, March 6th, 2027 (Himmelstalundshallen, Norrköping)
6. Final: Saturday, March 13th, 2027 (Strawberry Arena, Stockholm)
4,077 songs were submitted to the “Melodifestivalen 2027″.
30 acts will compete in the semi-final, 12 of them will qualify for the final.
There aren’t any restrictions regarding the language of the songs.
At least 30% of the chosen acts will be performed in Swedish.
At least 50% of the chosen songs must feature female writers/composers.
Any Swedish citizen/resident can apply. Foreign performers are welcome, as long as at least one of the songwriters/composers is Swedish.
Performers must be at least 18 years old by May 2027.
All submitted songs must not have been released before the contest.
The song duration must be between 2 and 3 minutes.
SVT might invite some performers, writers and composers to submits songs.
The 30 selected artists and the team behind each song will be revealed in a press conference in November-December 2026.
