Portuguese broadcaster RTP has finally approved its intention to compete in Eurovision 2027. As almost always, the Eurovision artist and song will be selected via the traditional “Festival da Canção”.
“Festival da Canção” – Known Details
- RTP will open the submission window on November 1st, 2026, and will close on November 30th, 2026
- Submissions will be made online via: media.rtp.pt/festivaldacancao/
- For the first time since 2012, the festival will feature one show only, scrapping the semi-finals.
- The festival will be held on Saturday, March 6th, 2027.
- 16 entries will be shortlisted to compete in the festival.
- This time, RTP won’t approach specific composers to participate. Instead, all songs will come from the open submission path.
- The entries are expected to be released in January 2027.
