Eurovision 2019 Host country, Israel, is getting closer to choose the Israeli Entry.
The top20 team of the reality show “Hakohav Haba Le’Eurovision” (a star is born) shrank and became top8 at the end of the battles round. In the last show, one of the seasons favorite Kobi Merimi finished his road in the show after scoring only 48% for his cover version of Rihanna‘s “Diamond“.
Ever since his elimination, the social media in Israel is full with disappointed reactions as everyone thought his place in the final (and win) is guaranteed. in case that’s not enough drama for one week, another favorite to the final, Group Shalva, considering withdrawing the competition due to the fact the Eurovision is set to take place on the Jewish holy day Saturday. as for now, the band is yet to approve or denied the withdrawn to the rumors. BTW, not working on Shabbat (Saturday) is the same reason made one of the most successful singers in Israel Omer Adam to turn down the offer of performing as the Interval act on the Eurovision’s grand final night.
As for now, one the race to be the Israeli representative for 2019 contest are:

- Ketreyah
- Daniel Barzilay
- Shalva
- Avraham De Carvalho
- Tay
- Ofri Calfon
This is the 5th time the reality show is using as the mechanism to choose the Israeli representative for the contest. all the 4 previous winners Nadav Guedj, Hovi Star, Imri Ziv, and Netta succeeded to qualify for the Eurovision’s final. Netta off course made history and brought Israel the 4th winning in the contest.
“Hakohav Haba” final will take place in two weeks from now on Tuesday, February 12. In order to find the best song for the contestants, KAN, the Israeli broadcast opened a song submission for writers and composers that will be opened until February 17. the rules for the submission are:
- Songs must not exceed 3 minutes in length.
- The song must be at least bilingual and must be performed in Hebrew, English or a combination of both.
- Songs must not have been released before September 1st, 2019.
- Songs are not allowed to contain anything that would damage the image of Eurovision/ Israel or of the EBU.

The Israeli entry videoclip will be officially revealed during the Israeli television academy awards 2018 on March 10th.
Eurovision 2019 host country Israel will participate automatically in the grand final on May 18.
