Israel: The Artist For Eurovision 2027 Will Be Selected Through “The Rising Star”

Israel has confirmed its participation at Eurovision 2027.
The national broadcaster Kan shared more details regarding the selection process.
In 2026, Kan will collaborate with Keshet12 (one of Israel’s commercial channels) to select the artist for Eurovision 2027.
The selection will be made through “Hakohav Haba La’Eurovision”. The new season will air around the end of October – November 2026.
This will mark the 10th year of both channels collaborating for selecting the artist for Eurovision!

Kan released the following statement:

This collaboration yielded excellent results for all partners and brought great pride to the State of Israel.

Ilanit Siman Tov Hirsch, VP of Keshet 12, added that “We believe that this year too we will bring viewers an exciting season at the end of which the most deserving representative will be chosen.

Yoav Tzafir, the show’s editor-in-chief, noted that the combination of the professional process and the cooperation with the corporation allows us to choose the best artist for the world’s biggest stage.

Israel has selected an artist for Eurovision via the music reality show “Hakohav Haba” during the years 2015-2020, and 2024-2026
Among the chosen artists, we can find:

  • Nadav Guedj (Eurovision 2015) – 9th place in the final
  • Hovi Star (Eurovision 2016) – 14th place in the final
  • Imri Ziv (Eurovision 2017) – 23rd place in the final
  • Netta Barzilai (Eurovision 2018) winner
  • Kobi Marimi (Eurovision 2019) – 23rd place in the final
  • Eden Alene (selected in 2020, and therefore was internally selected for Eurovision 2021) – 17th place in the final (2021)
  • Eden Golan (Eurovision 2024) – 5th place in the final
  • Yuval Raphael (Eurovision 2025) – 2nd place in the final
  • Noam Bettan (Eurovision 2026) – 2nd place in the final

The Israeli song will be selected internally by a professional committee.
The process will continue to follow the procedures introduced for Eurovision 2026, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities. To prevent early identification of creators, the songs will be submitted to the professional committee without the creator’s voice, with the possibility of using AI technology to record the vocals in demo versions. The committee, which will be composed of professionals from “Kan” and a representative from Keshet, will filter approximately 40 songs in the first stage, from which the winning song will be selected.

Noam Bettan represented Israel in Eurovision 2026.
He performed “Michelle” and ended in the 2nd place

Eurovision 2027 will be held in Bulgaria in May 2027
