“Eurovision Song Celebration 2020” and “Europe Shine a Light”

The EBU has announced on 3 Television programs. that will be aired on the planned dates for Eurovision 2020 semi-finals and Grand Final. All of the shows will be hosted by Eurovision 2020 hosts: Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley, and Jan Smit

“Eurovision Song Celebration 2020”

The program will include 2 shows that will be aired on the the 12th and the 14th of May 2020 at 21:00 CEST. The shows will be produced by the Dutch broadcasters AVROTROS, NOS and NPO.
The 41 songs of Eurovision 2020 will get honor.
The first show will include 20 songs: semi-final 1 participants and 3 of the automatic qualifiers: The Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
The second show will include 21 songs: semi-final 2 participants and 3 of the automatic qualifiers: Spain, France and the UK.
In each show, the songs will be played in the planned running order that was determined by the broadcaster, according to the semi-final allocation draw.
The accurate running order of the show will be published in a few days.

The EBU has hinted that the format of the performances will be a use of the national final performances or the music videos.
The shows will be non-competitive, so they won’t include any act of voting.
In addition, the shows include recaps of the songs that will include Eurovision fans singing and dancing alone their favorites acts.

“Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light”

On Saturday, the 16th of May 2020 at 21:00 CEST, the EBU and the dutch broadcasters will hold a special show called “Europe Shine a Light“‘ .
44 countries have confirmed they will broadcast the show live:
40 countries among Eurovision 2020 participating countries (all of Eurovision 2020 participating countries except of the UK).
Additional 4 countries that wouldn’t take part at Eurovision 2020: Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The British broadcaster BBC will organise its own replacement show “Eurovision: Come Together“, which will air at the same time as “Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light” Therefore, there will only be made available as a live stream on the broadcaster’s streaming platform BBC iPlayer.

One of the Eurovision’s legendaries winners: “Love Shine a Light” (the UK 1997) will be performed by all of the 41 participants of Eurovision 2020. Each of them will sing from the home country. The song was chosen due to its lyrics and their connection to the whole situation.

The show will probably last 2 hours and will honor the 41 selected songs for Eurovision 2020 in a non-competitive format.
Moreover, some Eurovision artists from the past will take part in the show.
