Exactly a month after the French broadcaster has announced that Tom Leeb won’t be back to represent France in 2021 some new exciting news drops today regarding the country’s new mechanism to select their entry for Rotterdam called Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez (ENG: You Decide).
Is that sounds familiar? Yes it is!

It will be a big event evening produced by France TV Studio. The idea is to shed light on Eurovision that evening. We will shoot this bonus in a large hall in a regional city and the evening will be hosted by Stéphane Bern

Stéphane Bern is a famous journalist, radio host and television presenter. on top of that, he has also used as the France commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest since 2015 including the Junior one’s in 2018 and 2019.
Alexandra was also been asked what made the decision to to go back for a national selection after the broadcast dropped the idea last year and internally selected Tom Leeb and replayed:
You have to look at it in context. Tom Leeb had been internally selected. Covid arrived and Eurovision was cancelled. Eurovision is one of our strongest brands. We couldn’t let our audience go another year without it. We talked about it with Tom and we decided to rally the public around this event by creating Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez.
The last time France used a national selection was in 2019, where Bilal Hassani has won ‘Destination Eurovision” and placed France 16th in Tel-Aviv’s grand final
The dates and the full regulations of the show is yet to be revealed. in the meantime and up until September 30 an open submission window is open and you can send your application HERE
