Slovenia: Ana Soklič will Perform “Amen” at Eurovision 2021

The day we’ve all been waiting for has come: Slovenia revealed their song for Eurovision 2021.
Ana Soklič has been internally selected to represent Slovenia

During a special edition of “EMA“, Ana Soklič performed her song for Eurovision 2021:
Amen“. The song is a mid-tempo soul gospel:

Amen” was written by Charlie Mason who is the writer behind “Rise Like a Phoenix” (Conchita Wurst from Austria who won Eurovision 2014) and the song “Here For You” (Maraaya who represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2015).

About the Selection Process

 Slovenian broadcaster RTV SLO has received a record number of 191 songs for Eurovision 2021.
The Slovenian broadcaster, in cooperation with Ana and the expert committee, has narrowed the list of songs.

According to a post published by RTV SLO:


The 191 submitted songs have been evaluated by jury panel in 2 rounds. At the end of each round, the list of songs has been narrowed down.
The first round jury panel were:

  •  Ana Soklič
  • 2 former Eurovision participants
  • Vladimir Graić (the copmoser behind the song “Molitva” – The Serbian song that won Eurovision 2007),
  •  Darja Švajger (who represnted Slovenia at Eurovision 1995 + 1999),
  • an associate professor at the University of Ljubljana

The second round jury panel included the following jurors:

  • Ana Soklič
  • Mojca Menart – head of ZKP RTV Slovenia 
  • Darja Švajger (who represnted Slovenia at Eurovision 1995 + 1999),
  • Matevž Šalehar Hamo (Slovenian singer and composer)

At the end of 2 rounds, the broadcaster left with 3 songs. Eventually, it was decided (again by jury panel) to internally select a single song among them.

Who is Ana Soklič?

Ana Soklič is a Slovenian singer performing mainly jazz, soul and blues songs. She is 36 years old and comes from the small town of Savica ,at the foot of the Julian Alps. 
Her singing teacher was the two-time Slovenian representative at Eurovision, Darja Švajger .
In 2012, she took part in the first edition of the “X-Factor Sloevnia“.

Ana has tried to represent Slovenia in the past, participating in “EMA”:

In 2007 with the song “Oče” (Eng: Father):

In 2020, she won “EMA 2020” with the magnificent ballad “Voda“. However, Eurovision 2020 was canceled and she never got the opportunity to perform it live on the Eurovision stage:

Slovenia will compete in the first half of semi-final 1 at Eurovision 2021.
