We all already know that Israel‘s representative for Eurovision 2022 will be chosen via “X-Factor Israel“. The winner of the 4th season of the show will represent the country at Eurovision 2022 in Italy.
According to Israeli journalist Eran Swissa (from “Israel Hayom“), we have learned that not only the artist will be chosen via the TV-show, but also the song for Eurovision 2022.
So how will it work?
Currently, the filming is still in progress. All early levels (including the auditions themselves) have already been recorded. The last round to be recorded is probably “The 5 chairs“.
This season includes 5 judges:
Netta Barzilai (Eurovision 2018 winner)
Margol (Margalit Tzanani)
While the show will be hosted by Liron Weizman
Israeli national broadcaster KAN has already published an invitation to send songs.
The window for submitting songs will be from 19th September until the 17th of October.
Writers, composers and producers will be able to get a special invitation as an audience in the semi-finals of “X-Factor Israel“.
The semi-finalists will be revealed in front of them, so the writers will get the impression of who are the potential singers of the submitted songs.
The short time period was meant to make the selection process of the songs much longer and fit it to the final candidates.
The grand final will be broadcast on January 2022.
4 candidates will qualify for the grand final. Each one of them will perform 2 original songs (among the songs that will be submitted until 19th of Septermber 2021). Therefore, you will be able to hear up to 8 original songs on the grand final evening.
The winner will be chosen by the performance of the original songs and of course by the song itself.
the selection process for Israel in Eurovision 2022 will be a little bit similar to the method used in Eurovision 2016. Back then, each one of the finalists of “Hacochav Haba Le’Eurovision” performed an original song. The winner was Hovi Star who performed the song “Made Of Starts“
Recently, it was revealed that the musical director of “X-Factor Israel” , Tal Forer chose to withdraw as the season is still in progress. But before that, Simon Cowell, who planned to join as one of the judges, cancelled his arrival and was replaced by Aviv Geffen at the last minute.
Who will be the lead candidate to represent Israel?
It is still too early to know, but we can mention 2 names as potential candidates to reach the advanced rounds:
Spair Saban who has previously won the 4th season of “The Voice of Israel.”
Inbal Bibi who was a semi-finalist in the first season of “X-Factor Israel“:
