Belgium Confirms Participation in Eurovision 2022

One of the veteran countries of the Eurovision Song Contest, confirms participation in Eurovision 2022 in Italy.
According to ESC today, Belgian broadcaster RTBF plans to lead the country’s participation in Eurovision 2022.

As for Belgium, there are 2 national broadcasters:

  • RTBF French-speaking Community of Belgium
  • VRF Flemish Community of Belgium

The two broadcasters rotate selection for the Eurovision Song Contest each year.
For example, in the years 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 it was RTBF‘s responsibility to lead Eurovision particiapation. Meanwhile, in the years 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 (and 2021 due to the fact that Eurovision was canceled) it was VRF‘s turn.

RTBF will be the broadcaster that will choose the selection process for Eurovision 2022 (including an artist and a song). Relying on previous years, it is more likely to have internal selection and not national selection.

Who will represent Belgium in Eurovision 2022?

Last year, Belgium qualified for the final and ended up in 19th place (with Hooverphonic performing “The Wrong Place“) , after 2 years (2018-2019) of non-qualifying.

Will RTBF restore the achivements in 2015 and 2017? Stay tuned for more information.
